Kim Mullen and Misty are both former beauty queens so I have my doubts about whether they sent in applications unprompted.

Everyone applies for the show in the sense that they all fill out application forms, make videos, go through the interviews. When so-and-so says that they applied in a post-show interview, it doesn't mean that they weren't "recruited" and it doesn't make them a fan of the show. Somehow recruit has become shorthand for mactor (which itself is a catch-all for model, actor, beauty queen, Hollywood insider, famewhore), when actually many people are recruited or encouraged to attend open casting calls.

Ozzy applying directly to a casting director means that he was recruited. Just like Jessica was recruited because they wanted a roller derby chick, they wanted a Hispanic male for the show and they got Ozzy.

The real issue that people seem to have is whether the contestants are mactors or not, whether they're fans of the show or not. I don't think they are mutually exclusive.

I don't think getting more non-recruits is a solution to making the show more interesting because a lot of them suck at the game too. I don't care if so-and-so has watched since the first season, if they play the game like Billy and Stephannie did.

She's was recruited from a realty website. They have to submit a video, otherwise the casting directors would have nothing to go by when putting together the cast.
