On Palau Commentary with Tom and Ian :
Tom says "I'm just glad I applied for this season instead of some of the other ones." and Ian then says"Im just glad I tried out for the amazing race" He could have been a recruit for TAR, and then switched to survivor, or he could have actually applied to the amazing race and then got switched for survivor. I think the total recruitment is more likely. If he had ever actuallly applied he would have said that instead of saying "glad I tried out for" |

I always thought the "glad I tried out for the amazing race" stuff was just another way of saying "glad I applied for TAR".

Bobby Jon actually applied for Survivor: Palau. There is an article from late last month archived in the Guatemala section of Survivor Fever. In the article Bobby Jon says he did apply for Survivor; he had watched the show off and on since its premiere. The format of the show made him curious to get on it as a way of testing himself. The article, by the way, was about a charity event where Bobby Jon and Cindy from Guatemala would be among the "celebrities" appearing.

yes, that has always been ian's story that he applied for the amazing race with a adult friend (like a old female teacher or something) and then casting moved him to survivor.
bobby jon always told me he applied i just wasn't sure if he was pulling my leg lol |

IGN TV: How did you come to be on the show? Boo: I snuck into the Big Brother finale and one of the casting agents was there and she approached me and asked me if I wanted to do the show. I said 'of course, I'd do it.' |

Part of the logic behind recruiting a bunch of shitty players is that it lets the good ones stand out more and have an easier time doing well in the game.
Makes it simpler on the editors.

According to the TV Guide "Meet the Contestants" videos when the cast was first released, Denise and Jaime both applied for Pirate Master. Sherea
said she's a huge reality TV fan who was talked into applying by her friend when she heard they were looking for African American contestants. Leslie and
Todd applied mulitple times. Amanda said she's a huge Survivor fan, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, but I haven't seen anything that
said specifically that she did apply - though I easily could have missed it.
Chicken applied, right? I'm guessing the rest were recruited. |

yes boo is roommates with one of the people off of big brother...which is how he got in their finale :) I've met Boo and he confirmed this...he is best friend's with Krista Stegall (BB2) and maybe used to live with her, although he doesn't at the moment...on Krista's myspace page, she has pics of her and Boo at the BBAS finale...Boo was very open about how he got on the show and this information is accurate...additionally, James (China) is friend's with Boo and that is how he got on the show...FYI |

Todd had applied several times prior to making it to China. Jaime had sent in three audition videos, and was a finalist for Pirate Master. Denise was a huge
fan of the show, and was also a finalist for Pirate Master. According to her interview, they called her and told her to send in a video for China. Sherea was a
big fan of the show but never thought of applying. She happened to have a friend at cbs, who told shrea to send in a tape. Chicken also seemed to be someone
who had applied, along with Amanda who apparently was a finalist for Fiji.
