I recently was asked to take the following personality test. I took the test with no explanation about what the test was determining. When I learned my results and, more importantly, the meaning of the test I immediately thought it would be interesting to see how Survivor fans (and players) score.
With that being said, I have included the test and directions below. I have not included any explanation about the meaning of the test in hopes that the results will not be too skewed. I will post directions for scoring the test and the meaning of those scores in a few days.
When I post again you will understand why I thought of Survivor. I think you will probably find it interesting too. I think I know where players like Richard and Lill would be categorized. I wonder if potential castaways are asked to take a similar test when they are being evaluated because this could allow casting to create an fascinating mix of personalities. It will be interesting to see what you think and what your results are if you choose to respond.
Read each statement carefully then indicate the extent to which you agree or disagree by writing a corresponding number from the following choices beside each statement:
1- Agree Strongly 2- Agree Somewhat 3-Agree Slightly
4- Disagree Slightly 5- Disagree Somewhat 6-Disagree Strongly
Work quickly and remember that first impressions are usually best in these matters. Please give your opinion on each statement.
1. Never tell anyone the real reason you did something unless it is useful to do so.
2. The best way to handle people is to tell them what they want to hear.
3. One should take action only when sure it is morally right.
4. Most people are basically kind and good.
5. It is safest to assume that all people have a vicious streak and it will come out when they are given a chance.
6. Honesty is the best policy in all cases.
7. There is no excuse for lying to someone else.
8. Generally speaking, men wont work hard unless theyre forced to do so.
9. All in all, it is better to be humble and honest than to be important and dishonest.
10. When you ask someone to do something for you, it is best to give the real reason for wanting it rather than giving reasons which carry more weight.
11. Most people who get ahead in the world lead clean, moral lives.
12. Anyone who completely trusts anyone else is asking for trouble.
13. The biggest difference between most criminals and other people is that the criminals are stupid enough to get caught.
14. Most men are brave.
15. It is wise to flatter important people.
16. It is impossible to be good in all respects.
17. Barnum was wrong when he said that theres a sucker born every minute.
18. It is hard to get ahead without cutting corners here and there.
19. People suffering from incurable diseases should have the choice of being put painlessly to death.
20. Most men forget more easily the death of their father than the loss of their property.
If you still want to take this personality test without potentailly skewing your own results please do not read beyong this point...
Basically, this test measures both your ability and willingness to manipulate. There are three broad categories listed below. I assumed that there would be very few Survivor fans that are considered "low mach" (as is explained below). If you want to calculate your results this is how you do so:
The questions are divided into two categories: high to low and low to high. As an example explaination, look at question 15 and say that your answer was 3. You can see from the key below that question 15 is a high to low question. In high to low questions, when you answer with a 3 you get 5 points.
Add up your points for all 20 questions and you will get your score.
High to Low: 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, and 20
1=7 points 2=6 points 3=5 points
4=3 points 5=2 points 6=1 point
Low to High: 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, and 17.
1=1 point 2=2points 3=3points
4=5points 5=6points 6=7points
And, now that you have your totals, the following is where you fall categorically. However, there is one caveat. If you are a highly manipulative person and you did not answer these questions truly honestly your score could be up to 20 points too low.
High Mach People:
95 and above: Master manipulator
75-94: Manipulative with intent and by design
Mid Mach People:
65-74: Accelerating away from low mach to high mach tendencies (rapid change)
56-64: Drifting away from low mach to high mach tendencies (slower change)
Low Mach People:
41-55: Characteristic low mach; manipulate accidentally and apologize for it
40 and below: Choose to not manipulate compulsively
