Is it because she brings the drama/entertainment, or is it because you think she's a wonderful person? Is it something else? Is she someone you would want in your life? I'm just curious. |

I think she makes good television and I like things about her. She's not my role model or anything but I like that she's confident and fun and
doesn't take herself or anything else too seriously.
tbh I didn't see her the villain on LB at all and I thought she got a bum wrap in her feud with Lauren. Lauren was the one who was after Kristin's boyfriend so of course she would hate her. But I'm kind of glad her persona has evolved into a Heather Locklear-esque caricature because I love that too.

She sounds like Paris Hilton. I don't think the show will be as good with Kristen. I saw the previews and it's coming off much more staged than the
past. Meh, I'll watch it as long as it keeps my interest.

I liked Lauren. She was my favourite on Laguna Beach, along with Lo, and lets gets real...they created The Hills because of her popularity--no one else's.
Heidi was virtually unknown and Spencer didn't come along until when, Season 2? And I like Audrina too and loved it when she replaced Heidi as Lauren's
roommate. To me The Hills was great when it was Audrina/Lauren vs. Heidi/Jenn Bunny. Lauren's popularity waned in the last couple of seasons as Justin
Bobby entered, and as Spencer and Heidi became "Speidi." It seemed like Lauren was over with what we now know are completely fabricated situations
and wasn't really into making a mockery of her personal life anymore. Clearly that's why she quit. I never really cared for Kristin but I agree with
Katy that she was given a bum rap on Laguna Beach. In my view she was made out to be more of a bitch than she really was. In fact, she never really was a
villain to me, but it seems like in the previews for the coming Hills season that's what they want her to be. I agree she thinks the whole thing is a joke,
but I just don't like her. Katy says she has confidence, and I guess that's true, but it verges on cockiness and that's a quality I've never
really liked in anyone.

I just love all the people who are so obsessed with how superior Kristin is to Lauren, who still have to drag Lauren into it. It's like they NEED this feud
to still exist to justify their Kristin-love, despite the fact that Lauren left the show gladly and has had nothing but good things to say about Kristin.
Frankly, Lauren's done a better job of selling this season than Kristin has, as all of Kristin's interviews are just weak justifications for how shitty
her acting career is.

Lauren may have been more vanilla, but the contrived situations that Kristin will get involved in as the season progresses are going to become tiresome and
transparent. Least with Lauren, you got a sense that it was sort of real, with Kristin, she just comes off as fake to me.
The show will still be popular but I think this will be the beginning of the slow decline for the show. Just like Whitney didn't quite pull off the City in the way some expected, I see the same thing for the Hills. |

Lauren is only interesting as a figure of pity. Beyond being a perpetual victim she had nothing to offer the show, and if she didn't have such shitty taste
in friends and a mentality that lends itself to martyrdom she would serve no purpose on the show. Which is exactly why she became irrelevant towards the end.
The thing that makes Lauren a good lead for this show is that she's a pretty but personality-less cypher. You can assign whatever attributes you want to her, because she's a blank slate. I love when people say Lauren is smart and a good friend, for example. lol. But really Kristin was THE girl from LB (she had magazine covers and spreads long, long before Heidi and Lauren ever did) and rumor is that Lauren only got the Hills because Kristin turned it down (and continued to turn it down until the money got good enough). The first two seasons of the Hills were inferior to LB in terms of ratings and only became a hit because of the Speidi/Lauren feud and the sex tape scandal. Since that peak the show has been losing viewers at a steady pace. Kristin is the only thing that can stave off the inevitable. |

There was a promo that aired during last night's VMA Pre-Show with huge lighted lettering that said THE BITCH IS BACK. Kristin was posing all around the
giant letters (they were taller than her) and at the end of the promo she was laying across the top of another sign that said THE HILLS. It's the kind of
promo you would expect for a scripted soap rather than a reality show. Either they just don't care anymore that we know it's fake, or they just thought
it looked good. I can't decide.
Katy--I can believe that they offered to Kristin to be a part of the earlier seasons of THE HILLS but I don't believe it was a part in PLACE of Lauren. They probably knew the show needed a nemesis, and had no idea that they already had one in Heidi. |
