And I know you've googled the dip, too bad that's not the full name of the recipe.
Have fun at your pretend party with your pretend friends.

I have to say that you mooks are just no help.
i've decided on a trio of cheese finger foods. I will do cheddar cheese straws flavored with garlic. I will do parmesan crisps flavored with herbs. I will also make these cheese crust wrapped olives that are baked. I just found the recipe and it sounds good. So thanks for nothing! |

I AM GOING WITH THE CHEESE TRIO.
I like that they can be made tonight and stored and served at room temperature. |

I'm curious about the cheese crusted baked olives - would you mind sharing the recipe?

I think I'm just going to use the same dough as the cheese sticks though. |

Cheese Straws?!? I hate those cheese straws with the intensity of 1/3 of a sun. That fad should have died 17 horrible deaths a long time ago. Maybe they
would be better with some old bay in them.

I like the idea of them as an alternative to chips or whatever. I dunno. I might make little cups out of them in tart pans and fill them with something too.

I prefer to make the baked olices with the jalapeno stuffed olives

Over what period of time will you be serving? You know how it works the longer you go the more simple you have to keep it.

It's an all day thing. They are starting at two in the afternoon and we'll go into the night. I think the idea is just lots of picking. I think these
things will be great with beer.

I don't like green olives - the other two sound good

That rules a number of things out. What will you be serving in addition to the snacks? You can't have people for that long without some kind of a real
meal unless it is open house style. You hung up on the cajun thing ? I really don't do cajun and I can't think of cajun style food that will last at
room temp for extended periods of time. Party food is never really great unless you plan to stay in the kitchen the whole time cooking fresh replacements.

Um...yeah. Not my party. I'm GOING to a party. I asked if I could bring anything and she said "if anything an appetizer". So, that's what
I'm going to do.
They will be doing ribs and cookout kinda food at some point. |

People aren't supposed to take you up on that offer. What kind of hostess is she? Lazy bitch.
Your ideas are fine I guess. You have to keep it sort of light since a heavy meal is coming later. Still hate cheese straws. |

No, she's a good friend and she said "I KNOW you'll make something amazing!" So this will not thrill or anything.
so, for the parm chip things -- I was going to use good real parm. But now I'm thinking that just ok parm will be fine. Right? Also, I guess I'm going to need to tray these things with some fresh fruit. |

Not true. It depends on the TYPE of olive and the marination method.
All olives are green and then they turn black. The color is a matter of RIPENESS. |

Okay parmesan is fine, it is a cookout after all. No, you don't need fruit. Go ghetto, put em in a tupperware, or on a big disposable aluminum tray.
