One of the most heartbreaking scenes in that episode, I think, is when Rayanne checks the roster and sees her name as the lead and turns around sooooo excited to tell someone. But there's no one to tell.I like that particularly because earlier in the episode, Angela VOs that when a person calls someone's name loudly in the hall and there is no response, it makes a person feel really lonely. It was a nice way to illustrate that because it's so true. It's sad how memorized I have some of these episodes (that one in particular because I love it). |

Dude, I could never hate Rayanne. She was a fucking trainwreck of a person who'd never had anyone to look after her and she was SIXTEEN. Of course she did
dumbass shit like get wasted and sleep with guys she didn't really care about. I love that episode. I felt bad for both Angela and Rayanne.
Oh, and please about Patty "stifling" Graham. It's called being an adult. Bet your ass having two kids, a wife, and a mortgage will stifle a person. And considering Patty was the one to first push him into going back to school and doing something with his love of cooking, I don't really see how she was holding him back. |

While you can sympathize with Patty's reasons (the stresses of carrying that household) she was a ball buster. Graham may have deserved it in his own way,
but she was only encouraging to him on the surface. She was often critical and usually disappointed in him.
Am I the only one who remembers in the first (?) episode that it was implied, or even shown that Graham was cheating - kissing another woman - and Angela witnessing this? Did I make this up? GOD I MISS THIS SHOW. Why oh why didn't it just go on forever?! How old would Angela be now? I don't care, I'd watch her when she's 80. (And I LOVED Rayanne - amazing character, that messed up little chiquita) |

just had a realization: Patty was the original Kate Gosselin.
and i really wish Claire Danes had a bigger career now. in rewatching the episodes, i am, again, blown away by her acting. so much of it happens on her face. she is the best crier. |

Rayanne (AJ Langer) 2009:

Her husband is actually a Lord. Rayanne being nobility is like the best thing ever.
Langer married Charles Peregrine Courtenay, Lord Courtenay (born 14 August 1975), the son of Hugh Courtenay, 18th Earl of Devon, in a civil ceremony in 2004. A formal wedding took place on 30 April 2005, in Los Angeles, California. Lord and Lady Courtenay plan to live in England at Lord Devon's seat, Powderham Castle in Devon, but not in the near future as Lord Courtenay is a practicing lawyer in Los Angeles. He plans eventually to hold dual citizenship (United Kingdom/United States). On 31 January 2007, Langer's daughter, Joscelyn Skye Courtenay, was born.[2] On August 16th 2009 she had a son, Jack Haydon Langer Courtenay. |

Prime Minister wrote:Yup and I agree that this is definitely that show. I remember reading that this show was in limbo for some time at ABC. They canceled it but there was a huge outcry and I think they reconsidered bringing it back, but at that point Clare Danes and her parents told ABC she wouldn't be returning regardless so just keep it cancelled. On an unrelated note, I loved the Sharon/Rayanne/Angela dynamic. So realistic. And I wouldn't want to have seen Sharon preggers like they would have done in S2. |

I read that it got cancelled because Claire Danes wasnt interested in doing it anymore. Which SUCKS.

I could never hate Rayanne either even though I wanted to. It hit too close to home for me. I had a best friend in high school named Rheanne and she was a mess
too. But a hell of a lot of fun, lol.

Maybe Claire Danes didn't want to be type-cast, which looking back was a good move for her.
