They've hired Olivia Williams as the ice queen of the Dollhouse, Adelle.
She's probably most memorable in North America as Ms. Cross in Rushmore and as the bridesmaid Joey shagged at Ross and Emily's wedding. |

Yeah I remembered her Great choice.

I am so excited to see how they translate one of Ibsen's greatest work into a modern tale of feminine liberation.

She was also Moira MacTaggert (sp?) for like 3 minutes in the last and worst X-Men movie.

Harry Lennix will play Boyd, Echo's bodyguard guy.
Miracle Laurie will play the doll, November (recurring, not in pilot)

I am so in love with this show already just based on the pedigree of the folks involved, I am about on the verge of declaring a pre-emptive strike on FOX
knowing those bitches are itching to cancel it.
Whedon + Minear + Fain + Craft + Dushku + Pinikett + Acker = My heart is doomed to break. I'm gonna watch for however long it is on the air. Of course they could surprise me and actually be as good to it as they have been to BONES. I hope it is the latter. |

I'm so damn excited about this. Which means it's sure to fail. I've been re-watching S4 of Angel lately and all the Eliza Dushku and Amy Acker
goodness have got me even more worked up, I can't wait to see them in a Whedon show again.

Squee! I've found a review of the pilot script!! There are no real spoilers in the post, it's more of a take on the theme or feel of the show.
I'm so looking forward to this...
"This isn't latter-day Alias by any stretch of the imagination: while there are still costume changes and choreographed fight sequences, it delves into bigger issues of morality and mortality and asks hard questions about the ethical ramifications of science and technology." http://www.televisionaryblog.com/2008/04/playing-with-dolls-advance-look-at-joss.html First glance at reader comments seems to be focusing on/questioning Dusku's ability to pull off playing multiple personalities. Any opinions on that? Meh, Kristin at E! also has a review: http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=8d4f2a63-0a18-4024-8e80-248e53ed83cd, slightly more spoilery and very intriguing regarding Tahmoh's character. Her review is pre-Amy Acker casting. Sorry for the multiple edits - trying to keep everything I'm finding in one post...

"Who are You?" shows she can mix it up. Buffy and Faith switched bodies, and while I think SMG did a slightly more subtle bit of portraying Faith in
Buffy's body, Eliza was damn convincing playing Buffy in Faith.
All things are answered in BtVS.

Yeah I'm not worried. She did some damn fine emotional work in Angel and in the final Buffy Season too. Now they must cast Tom Lenk and I will be in bliss.

Tom Lenk?! For REAL!? I would rather see Dawn than Andrew.
Because I need to see pictures next to names: Adelle
DeWitt: 40 something, any ethnicity, beautiful, sophisticated, cold as an alp. Runs the Dollhouse with an efficiency that is both ruthless and
protective. Would die before she showed anyone how lonely she is. Series Regular; ![]() ![]() Paul
Smith: 30s, any ethnicity, good-looks hardened by a cynical distaste for most of humanity. An FBI field agent, he's been chasing the urban
myth of the "Dollhouse" long enough to have lost any shot at promotion. Becomes obsessed with, and twisted romantic foil for, Echo. Series Regular;
Boyd Langton: Late 40s-60, any ethnicity, gruff, about to make the descent from
'good-looking' to 'fatherly'. An ex-cop, Boyd is Echo's 'handler' - her guard/bodyguard. Hates himself for taking this job, bu
he'd lay down his life to protect the people he feels he's exploiting. Series Regular; Topher Brink: 20's, any ethnicity, genius programmer who's articulate, nerdily attractive
and blithely amoral. He's responsible for imprinting the dolls - and making sure they stay unaware of anything. Is fascinated by the science and kind of
digging the illegality. Fun to be around, but might not be remotely trustworthy. Series Regular; Sierra: 20's, Asian or any ethnicity - certainly not Caucasian. Strikingly beautiful. A Doll like Echo, she has every
personality in the world but her own. Is not as self-aware as Echo, but is instinctively drawn to her as a friend. Series Regular; Victor: 20's, any ethnicity, handsome and fit. A Doll, and the other closest thing to a friend Echo has. Childlike when
he's inactive, and everything from Errol Flynn to (young) DeNiro when he's active. Series Regular;
November: 20's, any ethnicity, beautiful and heavy. Another Doll, a hopeful child in
the house and everyone else you need her to be outside. A comforting, radiant presence, who tends to get fewer of the criminal gigs and more of the personal
ones. Recurring;
Dr. Claire Saunders: 30-60, attractive, smart and a little sad. Looks after the physical
well-being of the dolls. Has an acid wit that she usually reserves for Topher, who may only be kidding about being smitten with her. (Or he may not).
Recurring.
I'm going to predict right now, if any of these people die it'll be Victor. Just watch.
