Bumping an old thread for self glory isn't really my style. China rocked, the guy I picked ep1 to root for won, it was awesome. That was then, this is now.
Yeah, probably put my 10,000th here if no other reason that a couple people here say he's a fucking awesome guy IRL.

I thought dude was okay in his season, heard good shit about him afterwards and the highest praise I can offer is my friend who hasn't seen Survivor since Palau saying, upon Jonathan leaving the game, "well fuck, now this season is gonna suck". Made for great television, went out like a warrior and glad to see the man is enjoying all this! Okay, also I got to thinking about my first post to my 10,000th. Has it really been almost 3 fucking years at this place? And to think, I'd made my first enemies by my 26th post (though sj is awesome and never a real enemy). I started ORG's here, learned to chop here, and have found an amazing amount of people that really, truly, honestly get on my fucking nerves. That's Sucks and why I keep coming back, this place has the most creative assholes on the internet

straight up quit, (KB) and two sort of semi-quit/semi-medivac semi somethings… (Jonny and Chet) that's half of the first eight out in strange
circumstances… I don't know what it means, but it's weird right? Any thoughts?

Lots. Most of them go something like this: Stupid stick! Ruined the whole season! But seriously, it seems like this is a very unstable season. My theory involves all the storms/barometric pressure messing with people's heads (does that happen?). Chet's deal was largely physical I guess, but still he seemed pretty checked out of the game for a long time before that, and Kathy and that other guy both were having emotional issues. And now, seriously the fans that are left are two interchangeably invisible girls and two interchangeably scruffy boys, and none of them seem to have much game at all, that we've been shown. Makes it all seem like the deck was stacked because they knew viewers were going to be more interested in what was going on with the "faves" than the "fans" anyway, so they cast fans with either a short shelf-life or not much to say so they could focus most of the time on the "faves". Possibly Mary and Mikey B would have been interesting (all evidence to the contrary), and I guess Joel was sort of Judd/Shane/Rocky kind of interesting (which to me means: not very interesting), but from my perspective the only real fighter of the fans just got voted out and the only other interesting character quit. It wouldn't be so bad if things had gone better with the favorites, but Cirie's not very entertaining anymore and has turned bitter, they barely even show Ami, James doesn't say much, Amanda's both boring and a snob, and Ozzy is acting kind of patronizing and smug, so the only really good characters among the favorites are either already gone (you - sniff!, and Yau-Man), or are Eliza, who, while rocking things, can't be relied on to single-handedly stop this season from sucking, I don't think. Edited because I can't type, and for clarity, because I can't think either. Please - I know you can't tell us anything specific, but if there's any hope for this season to not suck, can you give us a sign of some sort?

Alas, Jonathan, I have yet to watch the epi from Thursday--Holy Week is a busy time for a choral singer. But I am finding it extremely hard to root for anyone.
Then again I didn't really start rooting for Todd until the final episodes in China. James' stint in China has me really hedging my support of him,
because of the fact that really wasn't a very good strategic player there, and I don't know if his ousting and then immediately coming to Micronesia
gave him enough time to really sort out where he went wrong.
Again, though, I have been going back and re-watching your turn in Cook Islands and I found a whole new respect for your game skill, otherwise I wouldn't be here now. And you were right--you started out too hard too fast and you burned your bridges too early. Burning them late can bite you in the ass, but it doesn't give people a chance to really stew in it too long. If you'd only laid back just a little bit, I think you could've been Final 4. (btw, you have handsome feet. I don't have a foot fetish, mind you, just I think you have handsome feet.) |
