I liked this one a lot, as usual. I had gone through this whole season moderately liking Mary. And this episode made it like a complete 180. I was rooting for them to keep Alexis and get rid of Mary. It does make sense, though. It's kind of like in Palau when Tom and company were trying to get rid of Janu over Steph. The lazy, about-to-quit girl over the girl who would fight her way to survive. I'm not sure if that's a comparison you were going for, but I liked that little allusion. As for the Final Six's thoughts on how Mary (or Alexis) would fare against the jury...it's kind of like Sharon from BB9. She had Josh, Chelsia, and James as her friends on the jury. And that's 3 of the 4 votes. But it was hard to determine (at least for me) on whether any of the others would have voted for her. I'm not sure why I'm making so many reality TV references, but I guess the episode was just thought-provoking

I'm a sucker for the family reward challenges every season. You said in your Episode Notes that you liked the local legends. Was that story a real one, or something you made up?

Once again, Mikey and Tracy prove how they're just strategizing circles around the favorites. They're basically setting things up for a final five where they flip the script and take out one of the faves thanks to their worst enemy, Mary. Alexis was the biggest threat in the game, and I think that because of their emotional way of playing, Eliza and Brooke allowed themselves to be blindsided while attempting to vote out Mary. Overall, good gameplay from Mikey and Tracy, good ATTEMPT at gameplay from Alexis and Mary, and piss-poor gameplay from Brooke and Eliza.

Overall, I like how Mary tried to suck up to Brooke and Mikey, but it was too little, too late. I like how she tried to throw Alexis under the bus, but Eliza/Brooke really aren't going to switch their hatred at this point. I liked seeing Tracy and Mikey win the challenges this episode because it was just so cool to see my two favorites take control like that. It was also very nice to see Tracy finally get to celebrate her anniversary with her husband out there. It was very touching. One thing I'm worried about is Brooke still being in the game with the HII. That worries me a little for the next round, but I think with Mary still being around that Tracy and Mikey should be capable of surviving that together. I do enjoy the fact that they're able to think alike and be basically on the same exact wavelength, even though they both know that the other is a big threat. Also, this just goes to show that you don't need to be strong in the tribe phase to take control of the post-merge. NuAirai makes up 3/5 of the final 5 and original Airai makes up 3/5 as well.

For next week, I'm thinking that Mikey, Tracy, and Mary all vote for Eliza, knowing that Brooke has no reason NOT to play the idol. Eliza goes home because she and Brooke probably think they're not even in danger. Then Mikey/Tracy/Brooke team up to vote out Mary, thinking the final will be a final 3 and not wanting to have to deal with Mary getting three votes automatically from Ian/Aras/Alexis. At that point, the final 3 basically comes down to who can win immunity, and I think it'll be Brooke, thus setting up the final confrontation between Mikey and Tracy, with Mikey losing out due to the fact that he would be more likely than Tracy to sweep up the votes of Aras and Ian. Then Brooke faces Tracy in the final 2 and loses.

Not for THIS episode, but my question is : Mikey, after seeing Dave lie throughout the whole China season about his mother being ill with cancer, does it make your fandom of him lessen at all, given your recent loss?

1. Tracy (She's just got the right edit and enough doubt and competition that it's not a strategical guarantee that she's going to win, like Leslie would have.)

The general feeling I had was that this episode was pretty much the more boring one before the finale. The part between the challenges was the most disappointing one, reward wasn't as good as the family rewards usually are and I would've hoped the food hiding would've become more dramatic. Luckily, the episode picked up after the IC. Even though the 3-way too was pretty obvious, speculating it gave interesting confessional as you pointed out in your episode notes and it actually made a pretty fun TC too.

Fifth place - Mary

Third place - Brooke ( I thought for a long time that this would be why Brooke lost, so that she'd be third, but...)
Second place - Mikey ( ... lately the long-lasting theme of Mikey and Tracy's complicate relationship has been brought up much and it would be a fitting end if one of them won the other in the final2 )
Winner - Tracy

(B) Do you have any other general predictions or speculation about how the jury will vote? Who will be the most bitter? etc.

Though I think/hope you have something surprising coming up and it won't be just final 2 / 8 jurors

Alexis - CP4 ( I think you were going for neutral rather than N, all the confessionals were just to make her look like the fighter, not the villain. )

Eliza - MORN3 ( I could see CP, but she was close to invisible before the IC so maybe CP+UTR=MOR is better. Definate N for bitching around all the time even though Mary was N too. )

Mary - OTTN3 ( I waffled a lot between MOR and OTT, but at least in the early episode she was clearly OTT so I'll go with that. MOR is fine too. )

Mikey - OTT4 ( I saw him clearly cartoonish this episode, some strategy too but it was IMO outshined by his earlier confessionals/other actions. Maybe OTT+CP=MOR too, but I think CP gives the wrong picture of him for this episode. )

Tracy - MOR3 ( P? I guess the reward scene could be seen positive, but then again there were nothing to specifically emphasize positivity. )

Mikey - This episode killed him finally, the winner won't have such edit before the finale. And the early negativity is still there too.

Thoughts during the episode
-Hmm, I've got a feeling Mary is going to quit, just from how she's acting

-Man this is a pretty dull and uneventful episode so far, and I'm about to read the immunity challenge now

-Jeff asks who's nervous tonight, things shook up the one time that happened on the real show. I sure hope things get a lot better now after the challenge.

-I see what'll happen, in a revote Brooke loses her vote in Mikey's plan. So Alexis will go home

It was pretty boring unfortunately, easily the most boring episode of the season. I was hopeful with the title that things would shake up this episode, but I guess I was wrong. I just had a hard time getting into this episode, and kind of just speed read through some of it like the reward and the challenges. It was just so obviously throughout the whole thing that one of Alexis or Mary was going home.

I thought Tracy was CPP just because of the circumstances of the episode with her getting to be with her husband and celebrate their anniversary, and her discussing what it was like.

As of right now, CP3 (neutral) is winning out over MOR, so she might end up with CP but probably not with a positive. I still personally feel that MOR3 is best, although I definitely understand what you're saying.
