Melinda was okay but sexless. Sanjaya - sorry, I'm not in on that joke. Yes, please make them be good looking. S6 was fug central.

Last season's top twelve was fine. The show ruined any positive buzz for them by blatantly ignoring them because they didn't want anyone to ever be a
threat to Jordin (and we see how that worked out) and because they were too busy hyping themselves and their stupid Idol Gives Back and stupid guest coaches to
actually focus on the contestants.
Until this show stops winking at itself in the mirror and actually starts trying to give any respect to their contestants, the top twelve is meaningless. |

Well, I already like Jermaine, so maybe there is hope afterall.

No, they didn't. Not to such a ridiculous extent. We rarely heard anything about their home lives or their backstories. The finale for the whole damn season barely featured any of the final twelve. Even Nigel went to the press and said they did not focus enough on the contestants. Too bad it took a huge drop in ratings for him to own up. The people who run this show have become so convinced that everyone cares about them and about their gimmicks and how cool they are and how they are now accepted by the industry that they have forgotten that viewers want to care about the contestants. When they care, they buy a CD. When they don't, they ignore the winner, which leads us to Jordin Sparks, the most successful female artist ever and the next Kelly Clarkson (according to AI) who cannot even sell 150K on her first week.

The contestants just didn't have "it" last season. It was one of the most disappointing things ever coming after a very strong season in season 5.Many of the performances in season 5 were inconsistent, and sometimes embarrassing. They had a good cast but they never gelled, and I say this as someone who liked most of them as individual performers (except Ace, Lisa, and Kevin Covais). The reason people liked that cast is because we got to know them. I think Phil, Lakisha, Melinda, Blake, Stephanie, sometimes even Jordin, the Chrises and Sanjaya all managed to turn in good performances. Some of them were also charismatic and savvy. They were stuck in a season that absolutely did not give a shit about them because they were too busy fawning over Diana Ross and letting us know how touching it is that Simon weeps over orphaned kids. In AI5, the show did not get the winner they wanted. They were therefore desperate to get the winner they wanted in AI6. They did, but also did big damage to the show in the process. I hope they learned a lesson. |

I'm not sure how the disastrous Nights in White Satin performance ("and I will love YOOOOOOOOOO" as he sweated through the stage) was any better
than the Pearl Jam. Sundance had every chance and he blew it with his weird personality and awful performances. I'm still annoyed that he outlasted AJ
Tabaldo.
Lakisha had quite a few good performances. Stayin' Alive, This Ain't a Love Song, Last Dance, Conga. Out of the whole season the only performances I didn't like were when she tried to sing Carrie/Fantasia songs. DC, were you a Lakisha fan? I don't remember. I know Seaguy and I were. |

I did like LaKisha, but I was so devastated and heartbroken over Stephanie's boot that I didn't care that much for the rest of the season. I guess I was bitter than Steph didn't get pimped as much as the other black girls. |

Brandon - not a COLORFUL character, no MORPH
Stephanie - COLORFUL personality but no MORPH in song choices Chris S. - COLORFUL song choices, made an OFFENSIVE remark to Simon Gina - MORPHED from faux-rocker chick to Broadway balladeer and was in TEARS after being eliminated. IN TEARS! Haley - her dress got shorter and shorter with each passing week - MORPH! sang a COLORFUL song that got her eliminated Sanjaya - extremely COLORFUL, extremely OFFENSIVE, put millions of viewers (and a young girl in the audience) into TEARS, his hair MORPHED so many times - he is fanofcoils personified Phil - not COLORFUL, did not MORPH, did not put people into TEARS, OFFENSIVELY boring Chris R. - OFFENDED Simon for saying "nasally is a form of singing" Lakisha - OFFENSIVEly boring and put me into TEARS, no MORPH Melinda - OFFENSIVEly boring and put some people into TEARS, only sung songs heard in the 70s thus, no MORPH Blake - COLORFUL attire, MORPHED most songs by beatboxing Jordin - OFFENSIVE, NOT COLORFUL, and put America into TEARS. Zero MORPH |

roadblocker, Haley's unforgettable performance of True Colors kept her around for at least one more week. She was the epitome of color and was frequently
in TEARS.
DC, Stephanie had her confidence undermined so badly in those last few weeks. She was another one who was sandbagged to prop up Jordin. AJ was a much better singer. |

Hmm. Everyone does understand that if the entire top 12 get record deals there is no reason to win this. Or for people to vote past Top 12? The show
doesn't even know what it's about anymore. This year it will jump the shark. (probably did last year when nobody really wanted to win.)

I loved how the show kept pitting them against each other yet never blatantly referencing the fight after it happened. |

I love seeing this again in the Rewind show. Julia with the group fight was so "I'm gonna make it and they're not and I'm never gonna have to see them again" makes a "so there" kinda face and strolls off. God I loved season 2. |
