I can't think of any other Idol shows where a contestant was openly gay, mind you I'm sure with most of the shows outside America people really wouldn't give a fuck.The networks/tv show producers are afraid of the "religious right" who are morbidly obsessed with homosexuality, and the current govt. who protects their bigotry. There is one Mayor in this country who doesn't put up with it, Gavin Newsom of San Francisco.

I just wish that Sylvester was still alive.....I still love him & his biography was one of the best I've read in a while (besides G. Gordon
Liddy's). I think it would be terrific to have an out & proud (not necessarily militant) Diva on AI.

* Jan 15 through Feb 6 - Obnoxious audition episodes (That's 8 episodes. One for each of San Diego, Dallas, Omaha, Atlanta, Charleston, Miami and Philadelphia... and probably one lame Best Of episode). Craptastically enough, the first 2 episodes are 2 long hours each.I hate how they're rushing through the Hollywood rounds now. It used to be my favorite part of the show.

what is that lol? since they can play instruments will it be someone like Constantine strumming a guitar, or an actual talented person who can write, play an instrument, really sing, and knows how to perform? Or more of the same old. |

I like the Hollywood shows too. And I don't care for the bad auditions much. They annoy me more than anything.
My hope for this year is that we get a winner who ends up a legitimate player in the music industry. I don't even care if it's a genre of music I don't necessarily like. I'm just tired of the countless number of people who emerge from this show and do nothing. I'd like to see a real success story. After 6 seasons, this show has produced very few IMO, and one of those few achieved her success in the film biz. (Go Boomie!) |

I agree with the consensus on the Hollywood shows. The best part of the series. 1 day is not enough. Too many audition episodes too, it gets old by the 4th
episode. Hopefully the hype this year is actually warranted.

I know I am weird but I like to start watching at the Top 24 because I like to decide who I liked based on their performance not on who the show is trying to pimp. But this also has me lose some of the people I like early because they got less attention/airtime than some craptastic contestants do. |

Interesting article about this year's Top 50. Vote For The Worst, claiming there were some plants, even a guy who was nominated for a grammy for doing a
duet with Alicia Keys but seems he has now disappeared.
"And last but not least, Jermaine Paul made the top 50, but according to JoesPlace, he smartly dropped out. The biggest plant of all, Jermaine was already signed to J Records (home of Clive Davis, he who signs most of the winning Idols) and was nominated for a Grammy for a duet with Alicia Keys on her second album. Alicia Keys is known as Clive Davis's most recent pet project. Jermaine also appeared on a remix to Kanye West's "Gold Digger" as a part of the group Focus. Jermaine's website has mysteriously disappeared recently. "
