I think so far it's like a cross between seasons 4 and 5. Every season has had 5 or so worthy women, and this year is the same (I think Kristy isn't too good; Alaina would have been better). I do have doubts if any of the women are great. But this is definitely the DEEPEST group of male talent ever on the show, which is where Idol varies so much from year to year. There wasn't one bad singer in the top 10 guys (some I hated, like Danny, but they could sing). In that sense it tops even season 5, which had 7 good singers out of the top 8 guys (NOT Kevin Covais). But deeper isn't necesarily BETTER. It remains to be seen if there are 3 guys in the group who will outdo Taylor, Elliot and Chris. I see echoes of season 4 in some of the individual singers: certainly Syesha+Nadia, or David Cook+Constantine. At the least it's a promising and versatile group this year.
