It makes me (slightly) sad that the promo commercials for MA: RC were far more entertaining than the series itself.

I never heard that if you have sex before 18 it permanently damages your body because it isn't fully developed yet, before. If I had only waited one year.

I was unaware of that "fact" as well. I never knew I was permanently damaged. I should sue someone.

My wife started watching this and now I'm kind of into it. Miss Alaska is hot in a quirky sort of way. The rest of them are pretty much forgettable.

Miss Alaska's apparently the only one with any kind of quirky personality since she's the main one they focus on. I agree she's cute -- and that Miss Rhode Island is hot. |

They should call this The Miss Alaska Show. It pisses me off. I'm watching to see everyone, not just Miss Alaska. grrrrrrrr

Actually, the more I watch this show, the less I like it. There is a whole lot of focus on just a very few girls, and pretty much nothing from the rest. I
realize it is only four weeks long and that there are 52 girls involved, but I would rather have had them split them into four separate groups of 13, one group
for each week of the show. Then maybe we could have had a few less contests and a little more of a genuine reality check for the girls, and we all would have
had a chance to know something more about each of the contestants. As it is, I know Miss Alaska because she's quirky, Miss Rhode Island because she's
hot, Miss Iowa because she has big hair, Miss Utah because she is clueless, and Miss Florida because she had a tragic accident as a teen. The other 47 (!)
girls just disappear into the woodwork.

"The other 47 (!) firls just disappear into the woodwork."
Maybe there's a reason for that (besides biased editing)? They all look the same, dress the same, act the same... they might as well be the same girl. The judges even pointed out that, physically, two of the contestents look so similar that they get them mixed up. Miss Utah reminds me of Jenny McCarthy. |

I'm looking forward to the finale on Saturday, but I have some complaints and concerns about Miss America and the MARC show: 01) I HATE the theme song to
M.A.R.C. It has nothing to do with the show, but is in fact some random non-descript rock song. And it's too damn short. They should have had someone do a
remake of the traditional Miss America theme song. 02) Is it possible that the best three at the end of M.A.R.C. are not the ones who have gotten the most
screen time? 03) The scoring system used at Miss America needs to be changed. This is how they actually choose Miss America: Preliminary Competitions Scoring
The Miss America Preliminary Competitions and their weighted score values are: Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit - 15% Evening Wear - 20% Talent - 35% Private
Interview - 25% On-Stage Question - 5% Finals Competition Scoring The scoring for the Miss America Finals Competition is weighted accordingly: Composite Score
- 30% (Top 16) Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit - 20% (Top 16) Evening Wear - 20% (Top 10) Talent - 30% (Top 8) On-Stage Question (Top 8) Final Ballot - Each
judge ranks the top 5 contestants in the order he/she believes they should each finish. The outcome of the pageant is based solely on the point totals
resulting from the final ballot. I think that the preliminary scores should only count as to who the semifinalists are, and when the actual competition on
coronation night commences, all 16 semifinalists should compete on equal footing. Even though the prelim score is weighted to only 30% of the overall score, I
fear that a contestant may actually win the contest in the prelims as opposed to actually winning on the night. A contestant who mows the field down on the
night of the finals may not win Miss America because of a relatively poor prelim performance. This year, they have improved things a scooch, but the
competition would be best served if all 16 semifinalists competed on equal footing. 04) The Miss America Organization should consider sending the winner, or
even a titled runner-up, to the Miss World pageant (hey, if Miss USA can be sent to Miss Universe...). Both Miss America and Miss World have altruistic,
charitable causes under their belts. And it is really stupid that the most prestigious pageant in America cannot or will not share its queen with the rest of
the world. Or maybe Miss America should start an international scholarship pageant in the same vein as Miss Universe or Miss World. 05) Just a narrow
observation, but I find that generally, people who lecture others about good fashion or the lack thereof, have abysmal fashion choices themselves. "Those
who can, do; those who can't, teach/design/criticize/blah blah blah". Beth Ditto of the Gossip was right: gay men don't know shit about
women's fashion. And I'm a gay man, myself. 06) The talents suck ass. Vocal, jazz dance, piano... when will a Miss America contestant reveal a talent
that is not only unique, but entertaining? 07) Why haven't the profiles of the contestants been updated with the glamour shots shown in MARC? The ones on
the website look terrible!

I was hoping for a Talent-based episode this week. Oh well.
I usually post all the pics here (or is there a separate Miss America thread?), but I'm not seeing them either at missamerica.com or tlc.com. Huh? I wonder what www.missamerica.com was trying to say here:
How long has Miss Virgin Islands been doing Miss America? I have to say, the judging panel has a couple really hot chicks on it. Dina and Jeannie. Meoww! |

And the three winners of Miss America Reality Check are: MISS WASHINGTON MISS INDIANA MISS NEW MEXICO Each wins $10,000 for her education and free clothes from
shopintuition.com. Simply for the fact that she supports gay marriage, I'm backing Miss Washington to win (though she has certainly improved throughout the
contest - the fact that she supported a controversial subject won major points in my book).

What exactly does one have to do to win the "Quality of Life" thing? And when is this shitty pageant on?
