Miss Texas' "talent" is the equivalent of me getting on stage and presenting the illusion of pulling the tip of my finger off my hand with maybe a couple fingersnaps.

Michigan's dress was tacky. I thought they were modernizing Miss America.

LOL, for all the talk about "change change change", they pick the carbon copy of last year's winner. I'd have been fine with Misses
Washington or Indiana or Virginia. Loved Miss Indiana's saucy talent.

Yay! homegirl won! If I had been watching and rooting for Ms Michigan, it would have never happened. Agree that her dress was terrible.

This was the first year I've watched Miss America in a long time. This pageant usually sucks.
Glad to see they picked a carbon copy of the 1989 winner - hair and all. Sheesh, that chick is straight out of the 80's I also like Indiana's song. I love how the no-talent hoebags always choose singing as their talent. SOme of those songs were just painful |

How the fuck do they justify Michigan winning -- I thought she had the best swimsuit, but that was it. Her singing was painful -- I thought I was watching an American Idol reject. |

I caught the pageant on TiVo this morning after having only caught five minutes of the reality series in the past few weeks (where Miss Utah, who seemed so
cool, was featured). After all the talk about having a new look for Miss America, I was pleasantly surprised by the start of the show and the elimination
aspect of the competition (although it had to be terribly unnerving for Miss NC to do her talent just seconds after finding out she was still in the contest.
And I really wanted to see Iowa twirl those batons!)
Had I known about Washington's political stand I would have been rooting more strongly for her, but honestly I thought 2nd runner up was a strong finish for her. I hadn't noticed Indiana until her talent - WOW, she was REALLY GOOD! And original! I was stunned and disappointed to see the pageant judges award the title to the bland blond from Michigan. She did have a hot bod, but her talent was so forgettable. I was certain it would be one of the other three that were left standing -- California (who may have been a little too over-prepared), Wisconsin (who was so smart and talented and hot) or even the no-talent Miss Texas (just because she did have a very fresh look). What was even more typical was how in post pageant interviews, Michigan discussed how she was from a family of pageant people - grandma, ma, etc. Sweet, but so old school. Pageant organizers, you started out well -- next year just remember to get some judges who aren't stuck in the old school Miss America mindset so you can have a winner that is truly deserving of such a nicely revamped show. |

I didn't like the dancy runway walks. It seemed a little too "pro am". I guess the DJ and Clinton with donuts was the big modern feature. The
host sucked.

I didn't like them announcing who got eliminated instead of announcing who made it. It was very awkward. The audience didn't know when to clap. Do
you clap because they announced one left? Do you clap because one stayed?

ITA. I hated having them announced who was being booted. What a way to put the emphasis on the negative instead of the positive. It insured 5 awkward
moments every time they did it. The only saving grace was Miss Utah dropping to the floor and doing push ups. Stupid, but at least it broke up the
awkwardness. PLEASE change this next year.

Also - let the judges know that you're trying to update the image.

And what about this shit that the prelims are wiped from the slate & the pageant starts from scratch? It has to be a lie. The prelims have to be stuck in
the judges' minds when they pick a winner. It's the only way they'd allow that cow to win. If their choice was only based on what we saw on TV
they couldn't give the crown to her. Her talent was horrible, her gown was horrible. The only decent thing was her swimsuit.

Announcing the eliminated ones was a big improvement. When they just announce the winners, I forget who was eliminated.
My fave: Miss Wisconsin - HAWT! |

When I was a kid I always thought the celebrity judges were there all week watching each talent, seeing every girl in a bathing suit. I thought they were really committed to the whole thing. Also, speaking of judges - they sucked. I didn't know who they were. |

Oh, I thought they used the same judges all week.

What was the point of the show, really. The ones who got all the attention, such as Alaska and Rhode Island didn't even make the semi-finals. I hardly
noticed Michigan at all during the show.

I was hardly displeased with the switch from the show to the pageant. I would've been really happy with a Washington or Indiana win, but instead we get
Michigan...WHAT?. Most of the cuts starting with the swimsuit competition made no sense to me...I was looking forward to some baton twirling dammit!

I was really rooting for Florida. Utah would have been cool, as would Washington (who is Japanese, German, Latina and Native American and would have put a
really modern face on the Miss America organization). Utah is a vet of the war in Afghanistan for crying out loud. How's that for an "it" girl?

Even though they are trying to update the pageant I gotta wonder if it's not too late since it was on The Learning Channel.
