And I just to win one immunity at either F7, 6 or 5 and I'd be guaranteed Final 4.

<<How on God's green earth was he supposed to know that he was getting BLINDSIDED!!!!>>
I would never have taken the chance especially after coming so close before, and because it made a lot more sense to use it rather than not.

Dumbest move of all time. Better to bet on winning one of the next immunity challenges. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he was going
to be a target at that point in the game. The reamining Fei Long members had the numbers without him. Why in the hell would they just hand him a final three
spot? D U M B! You play the idol and hope to win one of the next to immunity challenges. One of them would have been a physical challenge and he'd have an
advantage.
Some people are saying that the idol said it could be used up until the final five. If that is the case (which I don't know), then James is even more stupid. Regardless, this goes into the pantheon of worst moves in Survivor history. |

Well Yul never used his idol and no one faults him for that. He trusted his alliance to not vote him out and they were all so intimidated by him and his
supposed power that no one made a move. Do I fault James? Yes because he had a safety net. He could have easily used one idol and still saved another one. He
got greedy like the people on Deal or No Deal. He wanted to keep both of them instead of potentially losing one in an unneeded move. Fine, he's got two
nice pieces of matching wood instead of a million dollars. If he's happy with that, I'm happy because I want Todd to win anyway.
James got greedy and that was his downfall. |

How on God's green earth was he supposed to know that he was getting BLINDSIDED!!!!Because he made it a point to say over and over how these people wanted to "bite that apple" His brain should have clued him in on the fact that it could also mean him too. Herin lies his real stupidity. At the very worst he should have put out there over and over that he was going to use his idols. The mere mention of it would have put an end to the plan immediately. |

I think it's funny because had James used his idol and recieved no votes he would have been bashed as well.

I don't see James as greedy. He was all about keeping the TEAM together. James thought he was in an alliance and was safe. So far his core group had been true to him so why should he think anything had changed? I don't recall anyone calling him an idiot for not playing the idol either of the past two weeks. If he was an idiot for not playing it last week then he was an idiot for not playing it for the past 3 weeks? Think about it, he could have been voted out at any one of those weeks. But he wasn't voted out so he's not an idiot? Then last week he doesn't play it and is voted out so now he's an idiot. Some of you are masters of hindsight. The facts are he could have gone home any of these past weeks since the merge. It all comes down to a complete guess as to when to play it. He's living the game 24/7 and went with what made sense to him in that situation. It's easy to sit on the couch and see all the behind the scenes stuff then call him an idiot. My guess is he felt safer now that there were two enemy tribe's people still in camp. If he burns the idols two weeks in a row he won't have one when the PG and Erik are gone. Yes, it was a valid idea to play the idol and hope you win a challenge in order to save the idol. However, seeing as how he never won anything I could see why he didn't try that strategy. Facts are he had two idols and 5 or 6 weeks that he could have playing them in. Calling him an idiot for not knowing the exact two weeks in which to play them is crazy. He trust his tribemates and they burned him. If not this week then they would have done it to him in the final 5. |

Denise basically told him at TC when Jeff asked her something like "do you feel safe tonight"
she said somthing along the lines, (i'm paraphrasing badly) "that no one is ever safe, you can be in an alliance with 4 other people and you can never be sure what they are doing" I'm disappointed he didn't pick up on that, so he's a little dumb in my book for that |

I liked James, I was rooting for him, but....The only thing that would have been dumber than James not playing an idol at this point in the game would have
been the rest of the players *not* voting for his elimination. Poor James. Sorry, maybe he's not dumb, but James not playing an idol is the dumbest thing
anyone has ever done--or not done-- in Survivor history. Doesn't matter if he expected it or not. Wouldnt be much of a game if he knew he was gonna be
blindsided hehe...He deserves to be watching someone else win a million clams. Put him on a poster with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and call it Dumb and
Dumber and Dumbest.

Fair enough... however, the only reason James was blindsided was because of his power in the game.not really. keeping both idols so guardedly to himself after basically being given both of them was not a great social move either...not saying he necessarily should have given one up, but Yul managed to do more than just save himself with his idol...with two idols and Frosti and Jaime gone, James should have tried to max the idols' potential more than just keeping himself safe another round (e.g. working with any other two survivors to leverage into a final 3) |

The sad thing is that people think it is dumb for James to trust the people he was counting on...too bad trust is equated with stupidity by so many. I admire
him for having trust...if more people in this world really said what they believe and believein others like he does, it would be a better place. I would love
to be able to tell him myself what ahero he really is. I hope his life is great!

Congrats MyPoody2 for starting a thread which actually makes sense starting here in Sucks Proper.
Sure I've mocked James but he took a risk. In hindsight, a ridiculously faulty risk, but he took it anyway. If it worked, he was a lock for 4/3, it didn't, he took his lumps, and his reasoning wasn't all THAT off, save for the fact it didn't work and he should have known. -SJ™ |

So, did he get to keep the set of idols as a consolation prize to take back to the States?

What James should have realized is that there were only 3 rounds left to use the idols--he only needed to win 1 immunity challenge, and then he'd be safe
to the end.
Others realized this would be the "last chance" to get rid of James before the final 4. He should have realized this, too, and used an idol "just in case." But he was cocky and gullible. While blindsiding normally can't be seen coming, there were a million clues hinting at this happening. |

James is an idiot... PERIOD. You can only use the idols up to final 5. Therefore he had 3 more TC's to use them! HE HAD TWO!!! Most likely, he would win
immunity one out of the three next IC's. SOOOOO it would have wasted an idol. He might as well have used it this time and tried to win one of the next two
challenges. ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT WHEN JR WAS TAKEN OUT. Not to mention, he knew the whole tribe knew about the idols which would make
him a target!
