He blew a transmission or something.
Naturally I had him in fantasy. |

smartguy, it's getting on my nerves too. But Jeffy drove a helluva race today -- finished, what, 3rd or 4th despite being sick? I think I'm hating
him less than I used to. For the heck of it, I almost wish he'd win one this year. Almost.

Better he be sick this week at Kansas than next week at Talladega I guess...I want him to win there so bad. Superspeedway wins are always the most satisfying
from this fans point of view.

GayJay pulled through for me... but I do feel sorry for Kyle..It's kind of the year that Jiffypoo had last year.

Undertakeress wrote:Kind of, except not really. Kyle is rooked, but a little less rooked seeing as how he has lost the lead in both formats. Plus, considering Shrub's asshole behaviour, this is just the karma I've been hoping for all season for the bugger. Jeff was running perfectly consistent last year during the Chase, kept the lead in the old format, and somehow was beat out by GayJay in the format that counted. As I recall, his average finish was better than GayJay, yet he still finished 2nd.

Wow!
Kyle Petty out at Petty Enterprises? Was this #45-Kyle Petty's last race for Petty Enterprises? Sunday's Kansas 400 looks like it might well have been his last Sprint Cup run for the family business that he's worked for for so many years, that his grandfather Lee founded in 1949 and that his father Richard has been running all these years. That pending departure-not of Kyle Petty's own doing-is the stunning word from Patti Petty, Kyle's wife. Kyle Petty has been the center of a family storm of controversy since the spring, and he insists he doesn't think he's part of the long-running problems at Petty Enterprises. And Patti Petty says her husband is determined to stay at the wheel of a Cup car.....for someone. Kyle Petty himself ... has been struggling with the entire situation, Patti Petty says. While Petty himself was stoic about whatever turmoil is going on behind the scenes, promising to talk about things eventually, his wife was quite emotional - "Maybe I'm the only one here willing to tell the truth," she said. "They haven't wanted Kyle in the car the last three years. They want a young driver, a 30-year-old, a 20-year-old. "But Wells Fargo, our sponsor, says it's going to stay with Kyle, whatever he does. I wish Chip Ganassi (a fellow Dodge team owner) would take a look at Kyle. He's got a 12-race sponsorship deal for next year that would be a perfect part-time schedule for Kyle. And Kyle could help mentor a young driver. They told him at Watkins Glen - right when he was standing there in his driver's suit - that they didn't want him in the car." There are indications that Michael McDowell, currently driving for Michael Waltrip's Toyota operation, and AJ Allmendinger, currently driving for Team Red Bull, are under consideration for the Petty ride, as teammate with Bobby Labonte. Kyle Petty is tentatively scheduled to run a Petty car at Phoenix in November, but Patti Petty says that looks too iffy |

Aye carumba! Granted, Kyle wasn't doing well and had skipped some races, but I'm still shocked they'd kick him out of the car since he's a
Petty. But it's all about the "marketable" young drivers now.
My guess is they'd look at Allmendinger for the 45 since there's a rumor that he's leaving the 84. Didn't I hear somewhere that Kansas might be his last race in that car? Things that make you go hmmm. |

Yeah Allmendinger is defintely a better bet. Sad but Kyle's ass would've been gone long ago if not for good ole nepotism. Has he EVER been competitive?

Kyle finished 5th in the points in 1992 and 1993. Not great but not horrible. I think it's good he gets out of racing. I'd rather see him in the booth.

Anybody who has a shot at getting AJA should jump on that. Of course, I'd like to see him in better equipment (yeah, I know I sound like a broken record
like with JPM, shut it.).

Kyle never wanted to be in the car, he wanted to be a country singer. He says it all the time. I'm sure he's thrilled.

Seriously WTF?!?!? At least it will keep his whiny voice out of the booth though.
Rusty back to Cup? with DEI? from an article at SPEEDtv.com by Kenny Wallace: The hot NASCAR rumor right now is not something you'd hear anywhere other than around the race shops in Mooresville, N.C. Everyone wants to know if my brother Rusty Wallace is coming out of retirement to drive for Dale Earnhardt Inc. next season. I'm running the #00 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota in Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega and was at Michael's shop Tuesday being fitted for my seat. Six different crew members came up to me and said they'd heard a rumor Rusty was coming back to drive for DEI. These rumors get started in the Mooresville area because the shops are so close to each other and nothing can be kept secret for long. All I can say is that where there's smoke, there's fire. And he is definitely considering stepping back into a race car. He's considering this huge move because he watched Brett Favre come out of retirement in the NFL and his good friend Mark Martin is giving it another shot next year at Hendrick. If Mark had quit, Rusty would have been comfortable with his retirement. But watching Mark, who is a couple of years younger than my brother, stage this comeback has really tugged on Rusty's heartstrings. Rusty has told me numerous times he can outrun half the drivers in the Cup Series and he truly is giving a lot of thought to returning to the track. If he wants to make that commitment, I'll support him 110-percent. The decision is Rusty's and his wife Patti's, but I think the whole possibility is very inspirational and I'm looking forward to his answer. If he comes back, I think he'll be a bit surprised by the new car. I predict Rusty will be successful but he'll be shocked that he won't have control of the chassis the way he used to. He'll have an adjustment period because the cars are controlled by engineers, bump-stops and seven-post machines, technology that wasn't in such great use when he left the sport. There is no doubt Rusty has the talent to run well but he'll probably be upset he won't be able to set up the car on his own or tell the team how to do it. Maybe we'll know sometime soon if I'm right or not.(SPEEDtv)(10-1-2008) |
