Don't worry -- I'm sure this thread will be bumped on NASCAR banquet day. The hotel I'm thinking of staying in has computers available in the
lobby and I think they're free. Now just P R A Y that I learn how to upload pictures from my digital camera to my computer by the time I get home from
NYC!

Okay, since I'm going to be there this weekend and report as possible, here's the first report from NYC. It's from jayski.com. Editorial
liberties taken by me. No, I'm not there yet. My plane is scheduled to land at JFK at 9:16 Friday morning, so I will probably not be into Manhattan until
at least 11 am.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Week - Day 1: Jimmie Johnson has been there before - the past two years to be exact - but celebrating his third straight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship on the biggest media stage in the world is certainly something the driver of the #48 Lowe's Chevrolet is looking forward to. For the third straight year, Johnson and his team will be taking New York City by storm, participating in national media events and making a host of special appearances in various adult clubs and gae-oriented establishments leading up to Friday night's annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony (ESPN Classic will televise beginning at 9 p.m.) at the Waldorf=Astoria. Johnson says celebrating championships in the Big Apple never gets old.

I forgot to reply here yesterday so here are the recraps from Tuesday and Wednesday. Original from jayski.com and (I think) nascar.com, editing by me, yada
yada. Countdown to me tracking down GayJay and booing him: 1 day and counting.
Tuesday NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Week - Day 2: Jimmie Johnson visited one of New York City's most famous landmarks - Central Park - for a nude photo shoot Tuesday, as the first full day of Champions Week activities unfolded. Among the photos taken were Johnson in front of Wollman Rink, one of two ice skating rinks in Central Park and one of him throwing Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch fans from a bridge overlooking The Pond in Central Park. Johnson also plans to have his photo taken Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 48th and 3rd Streets, signifying Johnson's No. 48 team winning its third consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.Wednesday NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Week - Day 3: Day Three of Champions Week was a busy one indeed for three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson. Johnson got an early start in the morning, by ringing the New York Stock Exchange's Opening Bell and then having anal sex with one lucky, randomly-chosen trader, in what has become an annual tradition for the series champion. Following an appearance at the Tissot Countdown Clock event at the Marquee of the Hard Rock Café, Johnson attended the March of Dimes Luncheon at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, where he was the recipient of the organization's Lucky Bastard of the Year Award. |

Banquet night bump!!
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Week - Day 4: The top performers from the recently completed 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season were honored Thursday at the annual NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Media Luncheon at a hot dog, knish, sausage, pretzel, kabob, yada yada stand at 49th Street and 8th Avenue in New York City. In all, there were lots and lots of awards given out. A boring day, overall, the disappointment of which was punctuated by the failure of the Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch fans whom Jimmie Johnson had thrown from the Pond Bridge in Central Park to appear to beat up Johnson after the Stewie Awards broadcast. The fans were eventually found in a New York City police lockup because, impatient and hell-bent on quick revenge, they had tracked down Chad Knaus and kicked the shit out of him instead. (NA$CAR PR)Now I'm off to go see what I can. Hoping for driver sightings. |

OMG... I'm trying to watch this train wreck but it's too awful. It's not in HD and they all ready had a shitty comedian and Kevin Costner talking.
I think I'll skip it this year since I really can't stomach the winner anyway...
Glad to hear you're having fun in NYC there CI! I know I'll enjoy your pictures for than this crapfest... |

My fervent wish is that someone gets pissed and breaks Jimmie's nose.
Or kills him. Whichever, I'm not picky. |

Final tally: Driver sightings - 0. Worth my time - not really. There were a few locations around Manhattan with show cars. The Hard Rock had a fan fest
that really wasn't anything more than you'd get at a regular race. I did snag a few posters and trinkets. There are two locations that I haven't
hit yet... assuming they're like the other three, it's not worth the effort.
I do have a couple of craptacular pictures of me taken with show cars. However, since I look like shit in all of them and I'd rather not post my RL picture, there's nothing to see. The Waldorf-Astoria is way over on the east side of Manhattan and since most of what I am doing is on the west side, I don't even have time to head over... probably nothing there worth going for either. Unfortunately, no reports of GayJay being fatally mugged, yet. Sounds like it's a good thing I missed watching the banquet. |

From Jayski: Sadler replaced by Allmendinger? UPDATE: AJ Allmendinger is set to replace Elliott Sadler in the #19 Dodge in 2009, multiple Gillett Evernham Motorsports team sources told ESPN.com on Saturday. GEM CEO Tom Reddin told team employees and sponsors the news just before Christmas, causing some sponsors to consider leaving, according to team sources. Reached for comment Saturday, GEM spokesman Drew Brown chose not to comment. Sources also said Ray Evernham, who founded the team and sold majority ownership to George Gillett, cleared out all personal possessions from the team's shop, including the 2002 Brickyard 400 trophy he won as owner of Bill Elliott's #9 Dodge. Calls placed to Evernham and Sadler's representation were not immediately returned.(ESPN.com)(12-27-2008)I like AJ. |

Whoa. So if Reed Sorenson is in the 43 next year, what happens to Bobby Labonte? As for Helio, if he ends up in the slammer, let's just say his speed and dancing skills might come in handy! |
