I never thought I'd like/need it until my new car came with XM, now I love it.
It sucks looking at a regular radio now when it doesn't show me the song title. |

On the road for my job 50 hours a week. Sirius>>>>>>>>>XM. Although it won't matter in a year after they merge.
Worth every penny. |

I added a cheap XM radio to my "Official Car of Survivor-Amazon" ($57 retail, self-installed < 1 hour) and have no idea how I ever lived without
it.
Subscription charges were reduced because it's a second unit (had an XM stereo in the house already). |

Do you think the 80's channel is worse now SLD? You made me listen to it and it was good for awhile and now it seems not as good.
Anyhow, I have both XM and sirius. Merge smerge....who knows when or if blah blah. Anyhow: XM is cheaper XM has O&A/ Sirius has Stern. Basically, your choice will probably boil down to which you like more XM has a Led Zeppelin channel Sirius has a channel that they give to whoever pays them most and is about to have a tour or an album -- I think it's springsteen now, but they play the WORST springsteen Sirius has a decent shuffle channel. I love that because I like lots of music genres. XM has one but it is not as good There is a great website that shows what is playing on XM at any given moment. I do not think sirius does, but I could be wrong. Both let you listen online anytime, anywhere as part of your monthly fee. However, in my experience, XM's site is better because the sirius one freezes up over and over Both have decent traffic and weather for major cities |

'90s Alternative Channel!! |

Yeah, that is good. And XM's equivelant, 54 -- Can't remember if it's George, Judy or Astro -- is not as good because they mix decades and
sometimes I have to hear crappy Train or Coldplay shit for 2 seconds before I stab at the button to change it.

I only have an XM, and I love it. Got the MyFi portable kit with home and car setups. Went to Ebay and got a second full accessory kit so I can have it on in
either of our trucks or in the house. That way I dont have to have more than one subscription.
I am addicted to the adult comedy channel. |

TC wrote: Agreeance that the 80's channel has lost its luster, but I think that's due to how good some of the other channels have gotten. The evening
drivetime 60's channel is just like listening to my battery operated radio when I was a kid. And stations like Top Tracks cross decade boundaries, so it
may just be that there are lots of good selections out there.

I know the numbers. Helps when you get a rental car.
PS. those of you who rent cars for business -- always fiddle with the radio to see if it has satellite. More and more do and it's a great way to test it out before you subscribe. |

XM must be worried about their subscriber numbers, because they won't let me go!
I disconnected my sons XM radio last March because he was paying for some other subscription stuff, and didn't listen to it much anymore. They stopped the auto-payments and yet the radio is still ON. I've called 3 times and the last person acted like I was nuts for calling if I wasn't paying for it anyway. Apparently losing a subscriber is more important to them than giving their service away for free. |

Why the fuck would you call and tell them they didn't cut you off. That's just plain stupid.

Sirius is great. Awesome customer service, will give you two free months if you call to "cancel" service ( you could do this twice a year. They also
replaced my 2 year old beat up radio with a new, better model with the car kit, etc . for free last week because I (again) called to cancel my service due to
broken radio/not being able to listen/ finacial "woes".
.. eta: I see XM is doing a similar thing per Annie's post. I agree, they seem desperate to keep those subscriber #s. |

another one of their billing fuck-ups. When a few months went by and I was sure they weren't deducting the payments, I stopped calling.

My new car came with XM and I could not live without it. My older commuter car doesn't have it and it just sucks now, and I hate driving it. Most likely
will get it hooked up in that car soon.
Some of my friends have Sirius and I actually like that more. I had to borrow one of their cars for a few days and truly think Sirius is better. Maybe it is just me but it seems like XM plays a lot of B side material on a lot of their channels. Plus it just seems like you meet a lot of people that after trying both prefer Sirius. Not so much for XM, but that is just my opinion. I read that someone was coming out with, or came out with, a unit in the car that would let you not only see the song that was playing on the current channel but also the songs playing on your other favorite channels. Now that would be a big plus. |
