Roseanne was a real trainwreck. It looked like it was her first time in front of a camera. Couldn't put two coherent sentences together.

I love Dan and also being from Seattle/Capitol Hill I was pleased as all get out to see him get a recurring spot on Bill's show. Kick ass. He's got
passion and then some. Great guy.

What astounds me about Fund is his need to blatantly LIE... he is an intelligent man who cannot use with any plausibility the "I don't know" or
"Denial" bullshit.. it rang insincere, manipulative and frankly smug. He seemed hellbent on confirming all what many are beginning to think and
hopefully BELIEVE about the Republican party.
I believe there are many good Republicans, Lincoln Chafee for one sadly no longer in office and would have been a great VP candidate btw, who do not subscribe to the "Dogma"(Dogma is the established belief or doctrine held by a religion, ideology or any kind of organization, thought to be authoritative and not to be disputed, doubted or diverged from. While in the context of religion the term is largely descriptive, outside of religion its current usage tends to carry a pejorative connotation-referring to concepts as being "established" only according to a particular point of view, and thus one of doubtful foundation. This pejorative connotation is even stronger with the term dogmatic, used to describe a person of rigid beliefs who is not open to rational argument) and that is what it is .. not a doctrine but a full on Religious like doctrine that has little or no room for any opposition, conflict or dissension. You are either WITH us or with the terrorist mentality... and that is with regards to ANYTHING.. social, political, international, domestic. etc.. the Republicans have NO ROOM for anyone else at the table and this has been 30 years in the making. It was a cohesive and cognizant ideology that for a brief period was very successful.. they were intent on destroying the Democratic party and literally making the United States a domain of a single Political entity.. that is not Democracy and yet they have the audacity to use that ideal for pursuing their single minded agenda.. FRIGHTENING. I also felt Jeanane as much as I like her has to be careful with her words... she has to use intelligent arguments lest come across as shrill and annoying which is something the Republicans do to bait people and watch them implode.. it gives credence to their viewpoint. I felt Roseanne would have handled it better given the opportunity.. she is right Palin is a distraction and we must focus on McCain, his record, his policies, his inaccuracies and inadequacies.. not hers. |

I found tonight's episode sort of lacking. I'm always interested to hear what Andrew Sullivan has to say but he was way too dominant. Naomi Klein was
shock(teehee)ingly silent. I think she spoke twice. And Will I Am, while a fantastic artist, was a bit out of his depth.
I did check out freelevi.org. It just links to a transcript of the 'new rules' segment with a pic of Levi, Grandpa McCain and Palin's slut. I was hoping to actually buy a t-shirt or something. Oh well. |

I am going to watch it tomorrow during the day sometime, but I wanted to comment that I always cringe when I can tell someone is out of their depth just like
you said. Someone will be on the show that I love in their particular area but they end up not adding a lot of input as compared to other people on the panel.
Dang I'm trying to remember an example and for the life of me I can't come up with one. It's feeling for the man/woman who is sitting there kind
of agreeing or disagreeing in more general terms based on his/her general familarity of a topic, but don't have a lot of specifics. We've all been in
that situation I think one time or another. I hate that sometimes. I'll think "jebus Bill you knew so and so was coming on. You couldn't have
thrown the guy one topic that was more geared towards his strengths? Not even one? Really?" On the other hand I think that also shows that they are
smart and I'll take that any day of the week over some dipshit that is just running their mouth and obviously doesn't know what the fuck they are
talking about.

I thought it was one of Maher's best shows. I thought Naomi Klien had a lot to say it was just that Sullivan and Maher have a clear reporte. It's
also a shame that they couldn't put Krugman on panel with Sullivan. Krugman is such a tool when he has to argue with people. It's all for the best
though because it's only then that you start to pick up the actual character and issue truths of the topic. It's like they make a statement but
there's a certain degrees of rhetoric which confuses the points, but then when they press the points or provide reasoning you might not agree with their
perspective but you can change your own. It was an extremely informative hour, it just wasn't funny or had a number of topics. It was about economics and
religion and the political stuff was just kind of an afterthought.

I loved the Free Levi segment/rant at the end, it was hysterically funny.
Naomi Klein is brilliant, her book is definitely worth a read. It's hard for anyone to get a word in when Andrew Sullivan is on, but I always enjoy listening to him and Bill's back and forth. |

I always appreciate Andrew and I think he and Naomi should have been the singular guests with a focused discussion on economy.. which leaves the third spot
well for an ECONOMIST.. not a nice rapper/singer/token black man it just makes him look well stupid and I suspect he isn't because he knew to keep his
mouth shut.
As for the issues.. Andrew only slightly touched on and Naomi sure as hell didn't the culpability of the American people in this debacle.. you wanted your free lunch fuckers well you got it the tip however was 800 billion trillion dollars.. eat that bitch. And sadly you stiffed me for it!!! I saw 10 years ago the greed generated by the Dot Com boomdoggle... when Dr. Koop.com is a "site" I knew instantly this was a business going down the shitter fast... I pulled all of our money out.. I saw Real Estate turn into that as a part of the dot com bullshit.. fucktard geeks with more money than sense bid on houses inflating the values and running amok buying cars at well beyond sticker and basically acting like the fucktard donkeys they are. I was living in San Francisco and saw the "I me mine" first hand.. I went to a house for sale and asked the realtor on what the selling price was based.. she grandly informed me that the house down the street sold for that price.. I am sorry.. what so this house is IDENTICAL to that one hence the price.. square footage, lot size, rooms, appliances.. Everything.. she just looked at me.. and a mor-fucking-on bought that piece of shit for 100k over asking... without asking shit.. there were no inspection contingencies, rushed assessments done by the very banks financing, and people saying well I may not have made it in the dot com days but booyah I just bought me an overpriced million dollar fixer!!!! Many people were manipulated by GREEDY scum of the earth real estate agents who saw an opportunity to do NOTHING to serve their customers except sell or encourage others to overpay for housing with the "idea" that they could sell later for much more and be fine.. of course they didn't say how later such as in a day or week or years and how much more and in fact was their salary and job secure for this debt and well hey they could hook them up with a mortgage through their friend.... conflict of interest abounds but not a problem with ethics of agents representing both buyers and sellers and hell even the builders putting these dumps up to sell to the greedy asswipes drooling for it.... Yes we all got rich ON PAPER which isn't worth the paper its printed on.... for the love of god the previous decade taught us nothing.. and that was under the watch of Bill Clinton and his fucking robot dipshit Richard Rubin who is now Obama's advisor on this.. that fucker was bailing out foreign companies setting into motion this shit today.... This topic is way out of depth for Bill's show.. the other Bill, Moyer no... but this is one of the most complex and bizarre economic issues we are facing and it is not easily fixed as well it has no basis in history nor is one anyone planned for... this is the GREAT DEPRESSION people only what is sad is that more are affected by this than we will ever know... but right now its corporate rich folk welfare and we are once again dupes in a system that has yet to explain to us what exactly are we buying, what we own and what that means..and why because NO ONE knows. Its that fucking complicated. Are there minds capable of making sense, of finding resolution.. yes there may well be.. but they are not part of the Obama nor McCain team and that is what worries me. |

Glams Slam, I bow to your awesomeness.
I think another problem in the housing market and the reason for so many foreclosures is because of ARM and interest only loans, that were all the rage five or so years ago. A lot of people got fucked by the ARM because rates did not adjust with the market, they adjusted at the whim of the lender. When people are buying at 6.2% and ARM holder's rates skyrocket to 15% there is something deeply fucked up going on. As well as for people who were convinced that they would be making more money in five years time, so they opt to pay interest only for that time. Not counting on factors, like the rise in gas prices, or the biggest being that minimum wage was not raised for nine years, then tried to catch up all of a sudden with inflation. That fucked the middle class right out of the fucking middle, and as a result the former middle class gets no more money, but they have to pay more for everything else, and when the principle kicks in on their interest only loan, there goes their house. I'm very scared about what the future holds, and it's only going to get worse from here. |

I really appreciate the kudos but in all respects I simply read and watch a great deal of television.. and I urge everyone to make an effort to examine what
has happened over the last 20 years... this is not just Bush's fault as much as I would love to say.. he just drove the final nail in the coffin. One of
the finest and perhaps honest minds is Kevin Phillips who has written many books over many years on the subject of the economy. But there are many others who
have for the past several years.. my personal favorite book is Irrational Exuberance that discusses our obsession with quick wealth and money.
I look to our own selves to blame for this.. we have long become a nation of debt vs manufacturing and production.. the only thing we produce is software technology and given time that too will escape our grasp.. just look at this week's stock gains.. Microsoft and Intel are down, however Oracle is up... that said Microsoft is a global giant that does very little in the form of innovation, they are however brilliant at being a monopoly... name the competitors who are equivalent to Excel.. Google is making headway and Linux is now moving out of the College field and IBM is helping.. but in all honesty what do you run as a Spreadsheet that is NOT Excel... Bill Gates was and is a bully and I am not fooled by his bullshit philanthropy.. some of its rooted in building Mircosoft.. Computers for the poor powered by Microsoft... Conflict of Interest anyone. He is the reason I am a Mac user and I have a shitloads of problems in work but I ended up outsourcing, yes outsourcing to produce stuff for me.. do I feel guilt.. no I pay them the standard rate for admin work 15 bucks an hour.. which brings me that issue.. 15 bucks an hour in the US doesn't keep you in Top Ramen but that my friends is the going wage.. I overpay my Fillipino assistant... she bids at 3 to 4 bucks an hour....which shit for small business is fucking awesome..my friend uses an Indian group for 10 bucks a month to do minor assistant work... we could not operate without it... do I feel bad that I don't pay for health care and taxes.. WELL TO THAT FUCK THAT.. the US govt does little to help us... This bailout is for the rich.. who do you know directly affected by the Lehman bros collapse or by Bear Stearns.. as for AIG I do have or DID have insurance with them but I am already on the hunt for a new policy.... as for WASH Mutual I quit banking with them over a dozen years ago when they suddenly became a shyster bank... I went with Wells Fargo and do you see them on the front page of the business page even BOA who are fucked are doing welll and there are many regional banks that are highly successful and fine.. why they are ethical. This problem is systemic from 20 years ago when Reagan did his best to break unions, to move towards deregulation and gradually and yes Bill Clinton too towards globalization.. for as long as there were any type of constraints or rules governing anything from wages, to health care to environmental protections... US companies did their best to circumnavigate that... and who cares if a bunch of Mexicans are exposed to toxic waste.. the smart ones were Indians and Chinese who figured that in addition to the dirty air, dirty money had more weight. There has been a slow decline of wages over the last decade, less jobs were added over this decade than the prior and wages were not commensurate... why do you think they are against immigration reform.. if we don't have a steady stream of illegal brown people how can employers exploit and underpay them to do the jobs that white people won't.. and why won't they because they don't pay.. so you want a union? You want healthcare? You want a raise? Well fuck you and say hi to Jose as he will take your job and at less pay... and by god I don't blame Jose.. its market driven... he however loses an arm or eye but what the fuck ever right.. he has no documentation.... and you my friends have to take jobs at the same pay because well its that or nothing.... We make these people legal.. they may ask for those pesky rights we so feel entitled to.. When you go to McDonalds as that is all you can afford now.. take a look around what used to be the job for teens is now illegals. and teens are doing entry level jobs that college students used to.. bank teller, Macy's clerk, etc.. and our service reflects it.. SHIT.. why young people if they aren't in technology are FUCKED... but they will soon if aren't feeling now because Sanjay or Pinjin is right there waiting to take that job too... and that isn't immigration or racism that is not the real issue its companies fucking over workers in the zeal for profits and big payoffs for executives.

Glams I love your posts. Don't sell yourself short lady. A LOT of people read and watch television, but you have a gift my soused sweetheart. You get to
the heart of the matter and can lay it out so that it is plain as the nose on your face, you can smell bullshit a mile away and are also aware that there is
plenty of blame to go around.
See take me for instance. I consider myself a fairly intelligent individual and pretty unbiased. I enjoy politics and read/watch up on it often. It's a passion. I have since I was a kid in fact. I also consider myself fairly informed on a lot of the subjects and the history of politics yet I catch myself occasionally nodding my head and agreeing with what my "party" (for lack of a better word) has to say and cheering loudly. Oops. My bad. Luckily I catch it sooner than later saying "wait a minute, but what about....?" and I am thankful for at least that much. So, for someone like me who is obsessed with politics yet that can let that happen I try to do exactly what you said in your first post. "it just makes him look well stupid and I suspect he isn't because he knew to keep his mouth shut." I'm smart enough to know I'm not smart enough. Your bullshit meter, your common sense and your intelligence combined together with your histerical asides are refreshing in their lack of bias. I always learn something. Plus they remind me to question everything and not just nod my head and skim over the nitty gritty simply because I agree with the general philosophies. You kick me in the ass and wake me from my stupor. That's why I love your posts. |

There have been quite a few guests who didn't add anything to the discussions, although I can't think of any others at the moment.
