So if Carrie doesn't sell 6 million copies, is this album a failure? Or is that just Kelly Clarkson?

Another Carrie CD!! Can't wait!!
I think this CD will be HUGE and will sell more than Some Hearts. Carrie had to work her butt off to get the sales she did with SH, and now, like Kelly did, she has a whole lot of good will and anticipation going into this next project. How she handles the good will and anticipation is up to her. I'm hoping she deals with it in a positive way, and gets great buzz leading up to the release date. |

I definitely think her 2nd CD will sell as well if not better than Some Hearts.
Her singles are all over the radio, both Country and Pop stations and she's won just about every award she can win for a new, female, Country artist in the past year. Her star is continuing to rise every day. She sold 6 million of her debut over a long period of time, I think she'll sell a lot in the beginning now and will then out sell her debut at some point. |

Oh, I'm so happy for Carrie. She is the epitome of what an American Idol is all about. She has made such great decisions both personally and professionally. I think Simon was right when he said she would sell more records than anyone else on the show. She is just so cute and talented. It will be interesting to see what happens with Jordin's career. Will she be the next Carrie?

No, Jordin will fail just like Taylor; the American Idol successful stage is long over.
But, I don't understand the war between Carrie and Kelly; I love them both and they are both clearly the only good people to ever win the show. No need to pit them against each other. |

Where is this amazing airplay Carrie Underwood suppossedly has? I mean, she's had great airplay with Before He Cheats, but that's pretty much the only song that's made it to pop stations...

"Some Hearts" got airplay on Pop stations when it was released and her other songs get played on Country radio a lot.
Seeing as how she is a Country artist and loves Country music I'm sure she's pleased with this. All your songs don't have to be popular with the mainstream Pop stations to be successful. |

I'm not saying that she's not successful, but she never really got much airplay on Pop stations (barring Before He Cheats, obviously).

Look dumbassses. I was responding to everyone saying "She has lots of pop airplay". She did NOT, and obviously country artists get played mostly on country radio, but if a song is good enough, it will cross over.

I think it's because she made a really good album. Some Hearts is without a doubt the best Idol debut (IMO), and right there behind Breakaway as one of the best mainstream albums in the last few years. Both were so successful because of strong radio support, and so far Kelly hasn't got that with My December (which will eventually reflect in sales), I'm sure Carrie will continue to be a country staple which will carry her to amazing sales once again. She may not go 6x platinum, but I can definitely see her getting 3-4x.
