I know that, but we would still have a bunch of people watching.

ILT: I like the innovative thinking, but the strength of Edgic is in the number of posters participating regularly in the stats.
If we had individually assigned players, we run the inevitable risk of "experts" who's viewpoints demand to be taken ahead of others. We have enough opinionated arguements around here! |

Lol. Ok.
I am thinking I may do the confessionals and ranking of airtime again. I wont do the positive/nuetral/negative editing, since that is covered here. And just wait for the theories. Mmmmmm. |

Quote: Good stuff ILT! The airtime rankings are a great Xcheck against the visibility rankings that some (not all unfortunately) Edgic posters include in their episode ratings. |

Re: ABC's points | ||
|
May I add some comments to KQ's responses to ABC?
4. How exactly was Kelly G an OTTN??? She came accross as very likeable, I thought, and she was portrayed as an innocent victim of Lex's crazy ego-fueled witch hunt. [We didn't have MORP and MORN prior to S6. Kelly was not very CP, however with the newer ratings I would be inclined to rate her as MORN vs. OTTN - better?] I like MORN for Kelly G. I've always been a proponent of the MOR = bland school of thinking. Kelly was a bit on the neg side, however. She had a sharp edge to her, was somewhat likeable nevertheless, wasn't a proper shaker/mover and was visible. MORN is perfect for her. 5. How does Carl get a CP? He was only in 3 episodes! [Same as Kelly, was not OTT or UTR, but perhaps he too was closer to MORN?] It is possible to be CP with only 3 episodes, although a rare sort. If a character is developed as tho he is going to go far, and shows a lot of different sides to his personality, then he could receive CP ratings in the early going. He is someone who with a different set of teammates, would have lasted til the jury, at least. 6. How exactly was Neleh an OTTP??? She seemed to get a very mixed portrayal. I would have given her a CP. [Neleh was only CP for a couple eps. mostly OTTP with her relationship with Paschal - I'm not sure I would change that] Neleh is a strange one - she was definitely an OTT character - I would vote for her as a straight OTT, because while she was P for a long time, it became Nness. Then her true Nness was so overwhelming it deserves to neutralize the Pness that was prevalent to the point of inducing diabetes. I would like to see Neleh's rating be an OTT. 7. Nick was portrayed negatively? [yes, mostly lazy, repeated throughout the season] Absolutely, KQ. 8. Sonja was an OTTP??? [I will defer to RW, who is watching S1 now] There were comments from RW with which I agree 9. Debb, Mitchell, and Stephanie were OTTN??? [yes, they are almost all posterpeople for that catagory] Again, absolutely. Poster children for OTTN, each & every one. And I say this even tho Steph was one of my favorite players and I had great hopes that she would turn it around 10. Matt was a CP but Jenna wasn't??? [yes, mostly with his relationship with Rob C.] Matt was absolutely a CP. He was very complex, going thru a lot of changes and promising a great deal. He delivered in almost every aspect except his final speeches, which he acknowledged in a fabulous interview with me personally were simply a miscalculation on his part as to what the jury wanted. But nevertheless, his editing portrayed a highly intelligent person who contributed to the tribe, inspired different responses from people in the game and watching it, and someone who endeavored to play the game. Definitely CP. 11. The majority of the people you have as UTRN don't strike me as being under the radar. Especially Zoe, Tammy, Penny, Joanna, and Rob C (ASS). [All lacked visability or facetime and had a negative spin] Agree with KQ re Zoe and Rob C ASS appearance. Tammy would get an MORN from me. Penny should get a CPN - she was manipulative and worked it, but was generally disliked by viewers, a by-product of the editing. She was complex but negatively portrayed. Joanna was OTTN. She had one good moment, singing while fishing, but then was in Christy's face and generally unpleasant, bossy, not liked and targeted early. She was pretty much one-note and unpleasant at that. 12. No "negative" for Joel, Clarence, Robert, Jeanne, Alex, Andrew, Burton, Lillian, Jerri (ASS), Alicia (ASS), or Shii-Ann (ASS)? [I will defer to RW on Joel, but most of the rest had enough mix of pos. to make them closer to neutral] I have to look at the charts again - is ABC asking why they don't have negatives, or questioning why they do? It's late - I'll at this group another time! LOL 13. And why does Andrew get an OTT? [lots of visability, but not much meaningful editing, mostly the sound piece for his tribal conditions - not very CP, but not overly Pos. or Neg. either] Agree. Andrew was very close to being a CP, except that he was always the same: bleating at teammates, making wrong decisions, leading his team to failure. Frankly, his huge effort to win that one strength challenge is the main reason he doesn't get a big fat N next to that OTT. It just inspired respect, but not a CP rating. |

Excellent comments AMAI. RW, I haven't kept up with most of the comments here. Are there ones that have enough comments to make changes? Or ones on the fence that need more discussion?

Re: What The??? | ||

That's marvellous, RedWing. The new dried blood red for CPN is fabulous - I love it.
I'm really getting excited about the new season, now I'm kind of fed up with Big Brother - can we make that be over already? Still, I've recapping comittments for BB - it seems I'm the only person at 3 sites, some weeks. So don't panic if you don't see me here as much at the start, but I will be here SOME, cuz how else to do my Survivor Recap!! LOL. Can't wait really to get started - doing Edgic again, with these gorgeous charts, is going to make this season fun no matter how lamebrained or stumblefucked the Contestants are. |

Re: What The??? | ||

The one remnant of the past that I actually enjoy.
Without boot list spoilers this season, this should be REALLY fun. Many of us were able to pick out Sandra as the winner of S7, even though false spoilers by idiots claimed that Darrah would win. Edgic also pointed to Brian as an obvious final 2 candidate but hinted strongly at Helen for another one. It'll be fun to see how things go this season. More and more people have vehemently protested the insurrgence of boot spoilers this season, so spec may be off and running. I wish there was a way to look at all the pre-season interviews and specials to see how they portrayed the winners of previous seasons. |

Wait just a second | ||

wait... you have kim J. from s3 as cpp while ethan is utrp that makes absolutely no sense with Ethan at least knew he was there. Whne kim came in second I was like wait who is she?
I know its based on consistancy from ep to ep but it just seems wierd that although she was one of the most forgetable cast members ever, she has a higher visabillty than some one as camera focused as Ethan I mean most of the memorable parts in that season involved him somewhat except for the other people self destruction. I guess I just hat people without stories making it passed the merge. Needless to say im rooting for Rory and Twila because they definitely have stories. Scout too. and Chad has one he just doesnt have a personallity. oh well |

Re: Wait just a second | ||

Ahh, Joss, you begin to succumb to the tempation that is Edgic.
Yes, KimJ would most definitely be CPP - remember, this is a ratings system for the editing. And we saw KJ working the group esp. the ones who came from Samboohoo, making Teresa believe she would make a women's alliance. Now, I do tend to agree with you that Ethan isn't necessarily a UTR from editing - he is more MORP to my mind. He had a UTR strategy, but he was portrayed as a bit of a narrator, as a happy guy who went along, and played with a hacky sack and so on - there's a small smile on your lips now as you recall goofy Ethan. Go on, admit it. |

Re: Wait just a second | ||

KQ will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the earlier seasons (excluding S1) did not have an MOR rating (only CP, OTT, and UTR). So, one must be careful in comparing ratings between seasons because the rating system has been refined (and of course the previous seasons have not been updated).
A case in point is the INV rating introduced in S9. There would have been many instances where this would have been used in the past (think Darrah and Butch), but these players were rated as UTR instead. So, arguably, the UTR rating is more meaningful in S9 than in previous years. |
