You're thinking of Adam. Parvati voted for Ozzy. Furthermore, bargaining with his jury vote to get rid of Jonathan wasn't petty, it was strategy.

I guess my memory is foggy. I thought both made that play. I stand corrected. My original points stands though - you have to be mindful of jury votes when
making your moves.

If I recall correctly, Candice, Parv, and Adam made that play. They booted Candice, then Jonathan. Adam was the only person who honored the deal with Yul. |

It's better, in my opinion, to take the chance at a bitter jury than to just roll through to the finals with no hope of winning. Ozzy vs. Parvati in front
of a jury of Ozzy's biggest fans Alexis, Erik, Jason and Amanda? Seriously? No. She may still lose, but she's doing what she can. Everyone left in her
alliance should thank her for getting out the one person no one can beat in the end and doing it without their help. The person who benefitted most from
Ozzy's departure and the way Parvati did it? Amanda.

could have gone to them and made a deal...And if your going to get an alliance with someone you know that you cannot beat, then at least have a deal with your
other alliance members to take that person out. Case in point, Amanda turned on James who was an alliance mate (but their alliance was probably more like a
Cirie/Ozzy one) However, she got everyone in her alliance to backstab James. Thus, it was only one person who got backstabbed, not three, which was the case
in Pavarti's decision.

Katy Carney wrote: Yes, if you were thinking strategically and dispassionately. Unfortunately for Parvati, Amanda, Ozzie and maybe James are thinking emotionally. This is not a matter of fair or unfair. In Survivor you have to expect that there will be people on the jury who will vote emotionally and work your way around it. It's part of the game. Notice Cirie managed to avoid Ozzy's ire if his post-game interviews are anything to go by. He *only* mentions Amanda, Parvati and James as people who would vote against if he finds out they voted for him and explicitly states he doesn't see Cirie's voting against him as a betrayal. Past survivor winners have done things like carefully parse the words in the promises they make people so they couldn't accuse them of breaking an explicit alliance. It's a key part of the game to avoid the flack for backstabbing people. Timing is also an important thing. Sure Ozzy needed to be taken out eventually but right at this time? It was a good time for Cirie as she no longer needs Ozzie post-merge and she knows he won't blame her but was it a good time for Parvati? If Parvati was unable to work out early on who would vote emotionally out of betrayal and who would vote strategically and work that into her strategy she has failed in an important part of the game. It also means she is not that good at reading people.

AnneZob wrote: We don't know that Amanda won't vote against Pavarti yet. It looks like from previews that Amanda manages to stay rational enough to immediately join the Girls alliance. But honestly, one could argue from a strategic perspective that backstabbing everyone isn't good game play. Some is necessary surely, but not everyone. I mean Probst once said that the game is based on Nash's Screw You, (Make deals, the deals are non binding) but they added the final screw you, but letting all the people who you screwed, get their revenge. I think if you look at it in context, it's perfectly acceptable for someone to be like. You screwed me out of a million dollars, I might seriously consider giving someone else a million. So then, hey buddy in the outside world we are even. |

There's nothing you can do about people who are going to be bitter on the jury. The options are A) have them in the jury or B) sit next to them at the
end. There's no C. Since B had no chance of success, Parvati chose A, which does have some chance of success. Nobody said anything about fair or unfair. If
Ozzy chooses to use his vote to punish someone for not letting him win that's his business, but it doesn't change my opinion that she did the only
sensible thing. She has every reason to believe that he could win every challenge until the F3.

feelings, and using that. (She thought it was wrong) The website clues, talk about how James/Pavarti's flirtation turns to bitterness. Seeing as James
and Amanda are clearly quite close, it suggests that James feels a bit more personally betrayed by Pavarti's actions. We don't know how far
Pavarti's flirting went.

From almost everything we've ever been shown, people in their 20's almost ALWAYS vote out of emotion in this game.
If people like Ozzy, James, or Amanda (if on the jury) vote for Parvati, they would have NO reason for voting for anyone else. It's kind of like Helen voting for Brian in S5. She was betrayed, but hated Clay. I suppose the same could be said for Julie and Eliza in Vanuatu. It was their despise for Twila that swayed their vote more than their respect for Chris. Clay and Twila were shown to be very much unlikeable due to personality from the beginning of their seasons. We're being shown that the only way Parvati could beat Cirie is if Cirie becomes so detestable that the jury would vote for Parvati out of protest. Such is not the case now and time is running out. Parvati is losing friends quickly (Eliza, Ozzy, Amanda). Cirie has gained a few favors in the past couple of episodes.(Erik, Jason) |

It was a good time for Cirie as she no longer needs Ozzie post-merge and she knows he won't blame her but was it a good time for Parvati? This is an outstanding point. There's the option C. You can take out your threats or sit next to them. Waiting until the final 4 seems like a possibly better time than the final 9 (Brian taking out Helen, Lex taking out Tom, etc.) However, with Ozzy, you have a dilema due to his dominance in challenges. Is anyone sensing a Dreamz-like situation for Parvati? She's not making a deal with a necklace but she's burning so many bridges that it's going to be nearly impossible for her to win. Still, the producers will put doubt in our minds and make us think "oh crap-maybe she WILL win". However, believe it or not, I can actually envision Cirie possibly winning unanimously. It's just a matter of who the hell gets that damn #3 spot??? |

I am a Cirie fan and I think Ozzy is a sore loser. He put way to much emotion in the game and i wish Cirie woud have steam-rolled him before the jury even
started with Ami and the fans. I think Parv will win if shes not up against Cirie. If Cirie is in the finals___she won hands down!!

TDB S18 Winner wrote: Exactly, at the bolded stuff. Why did you leave out Amber's confessional count? I guarantee you it was lower. The thing you have to take into
account is that Cirie (and Ozzy) are/were INSANELY popular, so they were always going to get a ton of confessionals. Now if it was someone like Amanda who had
that many confessionals, I'd think you were on to something. But Cirie having a lot of confessionals really shouldn't be surprising at all.

Joaqenix wrote:But Parvati is not being edited as a Danni or Amber winner. If she wins it will be as a strong strategic controlling player. Thus having even fewer confessionals than Danni is a real problem for her. As I pointed out in the edgic thread we are constantly being told that if Parvati wins she she will win because she is playing strong and in your face (which is why she is by far the most popular winner pick), but the substance of the edit is not matching up to the words. |

Who was it that said the egos would not allow a fan to win? Blutowski, I think.
It's a very good point. No favorite on the jury will allow themselves to admit they got beaten by someone who played the game for the first time. If it's a favorite vs 2 fans in the final 3, the favorite wins no matter what. |

Another thing about Todd and Will from Big Brother was that they were honest with people. They were honest that they were players, everyone said they knew Todd would turn on them. So nobody felt that angry when Todd did because they were expecting it. Yes, backstabbing is necessary in the game, but a lot of it is HOW you backstab, So Parvati's big mistake was not telling people she was going to backstab them? I think the truth is that people just don't like to lose. If they can see it coming a little bit from someone they have game respect for then they can justify it in their minds. Parvati seems harmless and they were all so fooled by her that they feel defensive and stupid. They feel like fools and they're bitter about it. Parvati had to make a deal with Natalie and Alexis for both her and James' sake over at Airai. Her deal also helped keep the fans from uniting with Eliza and forcing a tie, and left room for Ozzy/James to be booted before the end when they were likely to go on an immunity streak. It wasn't just an alliance for the sake of an alliance. Ozzy wasn't as angry with Cirie because Cirie never made huge promises to Ozzy, and never pretended to be anything other than a power player.Ozzy isn't mad at Cirie because he never really liked her all that much to begin with. He didn't lose anything. If you're saying that Cirie's a genius because she was the fifth member of her alliance and no one trusted her, I think you must be joking. |
