Otherwise I'm thinking of a video camera, a washed up 80's child star and some olive oil. I'll sell the video for millions.

My kid needs to take driving school to get her license, the $300 will go for that.

As it turns out, the press might be totally jumping the gun on this. Apparently, the agreement is between the Administration and the House (not all of
Congress). The Senate hasn't done a mark-up yet. It could come out looking either exactly the same as it does now or completely different.

I just read on CNN that this is not actually a rebate for 2007's taxes, but an ADVANCE on your 2008 tax return. So, it's not really a rebate at all.
From what I just read and how I understand it, people who do not get a tax refund to cover this $600 will have to pay it back in full next year at tax time. I
winder if there will be an opt-out of this. I don't want to borrow $600 from the government. I have my taxes just how I like them. I don't pay too
much, and I don't pay too little. I got within $25 of breaking even this year. Hiss!

I just wanted to say that that is not how it works Lilasu. What that article is saying is that if you actually make a bunch of money more in 2008 (versus 2007)
and it ends up you weren't entitled to as big a tax rebate that you got, you wouldn't have to repay that money. In addition, if you make a whole bunch
less in 2008, you'll get the difference in the rebate that you should have received at the time of filing your 2008 tax return.

So why doesn't the govt send us $1Mill so we can all be instantly rich and really boost the economy?

Right, that would only cost about $300 million (that's gotta be cheaper than all the entitlement programs) plus we'll all be in higher tax brackets.
Then we can bring in all the illegals to create a new service class for all us rich folks. |

Please explain that again.

"If you were supposed to receive a larger payment than you did, you will get the extra money," said Treasury spokesman Andrew DeSouza. "If you
received more than what you should have gotten, you will not be penalized."

I'm sorry, I was busy, can you say that again?

I noticed that you used the phrase "not be penalized" which means you are leaving the homos out, please clarify.

Math WhizSorry, my coffee just kicked in. It would be 117 million x 1 million which would only be 351 quadrillion. Still only equal to a few years in Iraq. |

I'm using it to pay off my credit card so the stupid collection office can stop calling my younger brother pretending to be my friend "Rich" who
lost my cell phone number and needs to get it again.
I'm on to those fuckers.
