Episode 1

Interesting that of the surviving players, the top 2 most visible on each team were WOMEN.
Parvati and Eliza, Kathleen and Tracy. Of these (1) Parvati and (2) Tracy had the best quality edits.

Parvati gets an opening bit about playing differently, she is shown as a boot target, etc. Eliza's confessional before the IC made her look "overconfident before the fall" which is not good for a winner. Parvati got none of that vibe. It was her ally Ozzy that got the optimistic comment about the loss humbling and strengthing them.

Tracy seemed to get attention (speaking time) because she will be an important character and contender. While Kathleen was introduced as the crazy lady, the eccentric entertainment.

Parvati was CPP4. Very marginal P in a fairly toneless episode. Subjectively and objectively she was most visible Fav next to JFP.
Editing didn't take sides on Parvati vs Eliza. However, Eliza and Jonathan both made arrogent seeming remarks in relation to the fans tribe before their defeat, while Parvati and her allies didn't, and Ozzy got the positive line after the loss.

If the Fans have the Favs number because they have seen them play before, Parvati may be the one Fav who transcends this because of the emphasis on her changing her game.

Parvati played an excellent social and flirting game in Cook Islands.The point isn't to stop doing that, it is to add on a strategic game.
In Cook Islands, she sat back and let Adam and Jonathan screw up in the crucial Jenny and Nate boot episode. On many occasions, others came to her with plans and she was the swing vote. But in ep.1, Parvati is shown taking the lead, strategizing with Fairplay, plotting to blindside Eliza, much as Jonathan and Yul would.

It's interesting that Parvati got positive SPV from her nemeisis Jonathan. She's "a great social player." Eliza gets negative commentary from American's Fav, Ozzy, about being untrustworthy.

The way Parvati polarizes posters reminds me of Jenna M. I think a lot of it says more about how we respond to the achetype of the flirty, sexy female than it does about Parv or the editing.

Day One - Eliza and Parvarti two-shot dragging shelter wood. Eliza: "I think we have a good group. I hope we win." BUT USED TO BEGIN PARVATI'S FIRST STRATEGY CONFESSIONAL

Episode 3
Parvati Watchdog Report - CP4

Parv's edit was on the borderline between MOR3 and CP4, but I'm going with he latter..

She is certainly the 3rd most CP player out of 18. There was strategic complexity in the scene with Cirie, where her and Amanda make the deal with Cirie. That's major insight into Parv's stategy, she is willing to boot her showmance to win (or at least tell Cirie what she needs to hear).

Parv also more more visible than her number of lines spoken suggests.She is the major subject of SPV. Eliza's narrates a scene (not shown) where Parv and her alliance try to swing Eliza. Parv's name isn't mentioned, but it's pretty obvious it wasn't Ozzy or James's idea that make Eliza their 5th). Despite hearing so much from Jonathan, there was a sense of strategic activity on Parv's side while Jon\Eliza stand there and fret.

At TC, pay attention to Parv's many facial reaction shots when Cirie and Jonathan are going at it. There is one in particular after Cirie slams Jonathan which seemed to say "You tell him, sister!"

Also Jonathan's voting confessional for her was edited to leave out a lot of negative:
Jonathan (Parvati): I have nothing against you, Parvati, but I do believe that you are the weakest link. You have flirted with James shamelessly, your relationship with Ozzy, you've stirred up nothing but trouble, you do little around the camp. I think by following Cirie you have signed your own death warrant. She's led you like a sheep to the slaughter and played you like a fiddle. I'm sorry for you.

The S13 editing somewhat hurt Parv's image by showing her ONE real enemy, Jonathan, slamming her over and over. In S16, they are editing the old slams out. Jonathan merely accuses her of making a strategic mistake - a comment that doesn't make much sense in the edited context of the show. What was her alternatives when Jonathan was out for her blood?

I'm suspecting Jonathan may have tried to Dolly boot Cirie at the last minute, and Parv wouldn't go for it. Why should Parv trust "the biggest liar in the game" (as Cirie calls him) over Cirie? I also suspect Cirie may go against Parv or her alliance, later on. But I don't see that as a quote of doom. Remember Fairplay saying how Sandra would never win?

Jonathan got it wrong. Cirie does not slaughter sheep, she Slaughters the Goats (Courtney and Shane). Joanthan thinks Parv is a follower like in S13, but her ep.1 edit speaks differently.

Ep.4 - Parv & Eliza

Alexis - UTR1 - completely absent from TC strategizing again, and still no "her name is Alexis, this is what she's about" scene.
After 4 episodes Danni''s tribe only went to one TC (not two), she had the Nancy Drew thing with Gary, and was clearly MVP of the basketball IC in ep.3 (which had me complaining UTR2 was misleading).

Eliza CPM4 - may fave player this episode. Her line to the chicken "If we don't win immunity, I'm going to the slaughterhouse too" just melted my heart. The girl was sick and in trouble, and she got the last word with James. Her scene with Parv made her seem plucky. (E is making her best move, and Parv and Jon recognize it for what it is).

Parvati MOR2 - but another CP-tinged MOR. Presested as the leader who Eliza pleads her case to, and gives a very strategic confessional in response. Just the thing you'd expect for the winner in a non-TC episode. Nothing she said implies that she likes or trusts Eliza less than Jonathan (her reasons werent given, but after her Raro experience I think if they lost she's be all about strengthening the tribe).

Note the recap made clear it was Ozzy and James who wanted to boot Eliza. Parv expresses no regret for keeping Eliza in the epsiode. She isn't part of James kicking Eliza when she's down.

Notice Parv was the lead strategizer for her alliance with Fairplay, then with Cirie, and tonight she's Eliza's go-to girl. She said she would keep flirting outwardly and build on that. Which is exactly what she is doing. Don't assume that "change her game" means stop flirting or start giving arrogent mastermind confessionals. Don't expect her to become a completely different character.
