All the teams, save Hippies and MoJo, were having a lot of fun and goofing off with each other. I had fun watching all the teams and the infamous Monica blow up over the pots was really not that bad. Just a good fun leg.

I felt the same way about the second Sicily leg; the tasks were still boring, but I remember Lake and Michelle being hilarious in that episode, plus Fran and Barry didn't grate, Mojo's meltdown was hilarious, the roadblockers doing badly in spite of the other polo players going easy on them and Phil dancing.

In their original race they were the oldest team (not to mention that cast skewed young - TNT, Andrew, Heave, Aaron/Arianne, JVJ, & Flo/Zach). For AS, I think they had teams they were definitely putting in (Romber, Charla/Mirna, Dave/Mary , Guido, Kevin/Drew, probably Danny/Oswald and that other team). After that, they had to put in teams for diversity (the BQs, Teri/Ian, Uchenna/Joyce, JVJ) all of which could've been replaced with other teams (Debbie/Bianca, the Gutsy Grannies and Kelly/Jon were all shortlisted, and Chip M had made a point of saying they would've been interested in between pimping his website). Rewatching the later half of TAR9 made me realize that I would've been fine with Eric/Jeremy being on AS. They had the racing skills and they could be funny at times.

The BQs use of the yield was funny, and actually smart since Eric & Danielle got hit twice.

Hippies only got last because of the unfair Detour weighting (and admittedly the fact Eric/Jeremy were much better at it at them, but that wasn't down to stupidity). Chip M had made a point of saying they would've been interested in between pimping his website). The main reason the Australia Detour were so unfair is that there was absolutely no way to go fast in the walking task and no way to mess up the didgeridoo one. The nails vs. coal one was pretty bad (but it put my least favourite team last and my favourite team first, so I irrationally love it).

The locals begged them to gave money and clothes. The Hippies took Fast Forward outside Lopburi, Thailand and they ate cooked cockroaches.
