Whether or not it was over hyped or hurt anyone isn't the question though. That moment was pretty big in the eyes of casual viewers. The saw that as the
ultimate betrayal and it sticks in peoples minds. And Yau-Man may have gotten old to you, but I think most people saw him as a unique character who stood out.
That in itself is memorable.

He didn't really develop that much as a character, though. He stayed pretty much the same the whole season. On paper, he's an interesting character,
but I don't get why everyone loves him the way they do. He's easily one of the most overrated ever.
It bugs me how shallow-minded casual viewers are. |

Well not everyone can spend so much time analyzing every character like Sucksters do. you can't blame a casual viewer for liking a character that the
editors want them to like. If there is a unique, likable character, the editors will edit them as one dimensional so a casual viewer can remember them and keep
watching.

Yau Man had a fan base because there are a certain group of viewers will fall for anyone the editing tells them too. However, real casual fans could care less.
Casual fans weren't even watching, then.

There are obsessive Survivor viewers who are a lot easier to satisfy than a Suckster. I would say that they aren't casual fans in the strictest sense because they have a vested interest in it. Casual viewers are the ones that send buzz about the show into the stratosphere. Like Pearl Islands, for example, had tons of buzz. People I know who don't watch Survivor regularly knew who Jonny Fairplay was. |
