I was about to post Pat's video here too, but Kenneth beat me to it. They talk about powerful singers and never try to sing like Whitney, Celine, etc...Pat
is one of the best that's ever graced the stage.
That said, I'm now kinda indifferent about Brooke. I don't hate her, I don't love her. She's just kinda there. |

The reason I like Brooke is because she knows what she can do and that's what she does. She doesn't decide to run up onstage and sing "Without
You" or "I Believe I Can Fly". The show's obsession with so-called glory notes and melismatic screeching has grown worse and worse and
it's gotten to the point now where they encourage people to screech even though they sound like constipated cats. She isn't very original, but she
isn't claiming she's original, so that doesn't bother me. I actually thought she was better than Castro was last night, even though the judges had
a big orgasm over him and tonight Randy and Paula carried on about how she brought nothing and needed a band. The schtick may become tiresome soon, but so far
she's one of the only people who is actually selling themselves on their performances, not on forced personality, not on shrieking.
Her personality bugs me when she becomes too happy-sappy, but she's toned that down quite a lot these past few weeks.

Yes, she acknowledges her limit and is not intimidated to sing poowerhouse songs,
but the problem is, she cant even vocally 100% tackle non-powerhouse songs. I was just indifferent in the beginning, but now with people saying she's the best especially over Carly is bitch please worthy |

I agree with seaguy. I really, really, really wanted to like Brooke. I adored her audition. But she just killed it for me with the Carly Simon (whom I so hate)
song and then even thinking of trying to sing Pat Benetar. Christ on a cracker. I really enjoy the contestants who take risks, but that just blew the most
boring chunks ever. Aren't there any songs from the 80's this chick could really shine on? Melissa Etheridge? Something folky? When these girls go for
Celine, Whitney, Heart or Pat B., they had better be able to hit it. I think Carly could have done a fine job with Love is a Battlefield. If Brooke was so bent
on a Pat B. song, why not, We Belong, or One Love [Song for the Lion]? IMO, that might have worked nicely for her voice. Personally, I would love for a folky
singer to make top 3 on AI. I just don't think Brooke can do it.

Okay, her personality (just personality) won me over.
so i admit it's hard to hate her anymore So i'll change the thread title similar to Melinda Doolittle's "hate" thread That was a good Beatles performance, but still hate to see people claim it was the second best after God. ETA: I rewatched the performance, meh the vocal sucked

So there's no negativity allowed? Then I'll just post my indifference to her performance. She was my favourite of the girls up until now. I am
unimpressed by her take on the Beatles, her shoes, her +!%%*, her anxiety. It's just all a little too samey for me. She's not Carly Simon, she's
not Carole King. She's just the only singer songwriter Idol ever allowed in the top 12 so we went a little crazy hoping she'd be fantastic. I tried to
overlook her singing off key...every week. Oh well. You can't fight it...she's in like Flynn.

I disagree that she was the best but I can understand why you might think so. I really did want to like her the best. I can agree that she sang it note by note
as it was written, with respect, but she is not Sir Paul McCartney and the song is so identified with him that I couldn't relate. It's just the wrong
song for her! She should have picked Good Day Sunshine or something cute like that. Having said that, I would rather listen to her again than Syesha, David A
or Ramiele or Kristy or ...pretty much most of them.

any attention to. She has NO creativity, range, performance skills, is VERY limited on guitar and piano (yes, I play both so I know what I'm talking
