Yo, check it out. My favorite baseball movie, with my favorite Bear (Tanner Boyle) standing in front of a Phillies poster next to a Braves pennent.

Against winning teams this season, Ollie Perez is 7-1 with a 2.7 ERA (6-0 in 10 starts w/ a 1.37 era vs philly/florida/yankees). Against losing teams, Perez
is 1-6 with a 6.31 ERA. Yeah, he's a fucking schizo.

Zambrano picked a great day to have his worst start like, ever, especially when the Brewers have 6 more games against the whipping boys of the NL.

B DeBrun wrote: Nope. That was the '96 Wild Card team. IMO, that team didn't have good enough pitching to win the W.S. either, but they might have made it if it weren't for Maier. They would've gone back to Baltimore with a 2-0 series lead. The '97 team actually had really good pitching and won the division over the Yankees. Also, I kind of agree with Yid that I don't really see any NL teams beating the Cubs in the playoffs, but I think any of the top three AL teams (Rays,
Red Sox, Angels) should be favored over them.

I really think the Cubs would be favored heavily over the Rays.

Why? The Cubs got swept by the Rays earlier this season. Given that the Cubs losing to the Rays in the World Series is about the most painful way I can
envision this season ending it's almost a guarantee at this point that's how it's going down. So maybe you guys are right and they will get out of
the NL. We'll see...

Zambrano gets hit for the highest number of homers in a game so far in his career(4) and gives up the highest number of earned runs this year(9)... and I was
there. Damn my nephew for offering me the ticket. It seems every time I go to a game I had not originally planned on going to, the Cubs seem to lose. I even
left at the end of the 7th so I could catch the 6.30pm train home. My other option was to stay and watch the slaughter and not get home until 10pm. I went to
four games this week, well, actually 3 and 1/2 since I left Monday's game after the first deluge. Today's loss dropped me down to 19-8 for the season.
Next game will be Tuesday Aug 19 against the Reds. To get my season average up, I might be seeing the Cubs play the Nats in two of the three games in two weeks
at Wrigley.

You know I'm thinking about that and really those wouldn't be as painful to me as FINALLY seeing the Cubs make the World Series and lose to a team
that's been in an existence a tenth as long as the time that had elapsed since the Cubs last won the World Series.
So option A happened and the Cardinals fans would run their mouths and taunt Cubs fans... nothing new there. And as for option B as much as it would hurt for that to happen, the pain would be blunted for me by the spectacle of an all-Chicago World Series. |

Bad day for the Cubs, bad night for a few Cub killers.
Carlos Lee hit by a pitch and is likely out for the season, or at least 6-8 weeks. Our remaining 2 series' against the Astros just got a lot easier. Ryan Braun apparently left tonights game with lower back tightness. Hes expected to be just fine, but then again, so was Bernie Mac. |

CBP is my happy place.
13th straight sellout tonight and 39 total for the season. It's just such a great place to go to watch a ballgame and hangout. I believe this is the first time i've ever seen 3 triples in a game while in attendance. Two by Rollins and one by Werth. I'd like to thank the Mets for continuing to push our biggest threat further down in the standings. Heh. And yes i have more pics! |
