But I fell in love with it. Have watched the first three seasons now, actually liked the first three so much that I went out and bought the complete series dvd. I honestly like it better then Lost, I know they don't tie up a lot of stuff and I hear the last two seasons without Duchovny aren't as good but it is just so great. I wish I had seen this when it was on tv. Both the standalone and the mythology episodes are awesome, The Cigarette Smoking Man has been great and I absolutely love Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi. This summer I was at the Edinburgh theater festival and I met Dean Haglund who was there making fun of the X-Files in a one man show. He was so bitter about Fox and The Lone Gunmen show but it was just hilarious getting to see his improv x-files episode. So I just wanted to start this thread back up because of the movie coming out this summer, so I may be late to the X-Files but I love it. I still have 6 seasons to go but so far it has been great.

My favo eps are Small Potatoes and Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose for the humor, and of course, the trilogy of Anasazi/Blessing Way/Paper Clip mainly for Alex Krycek. I wouldn't bother watching any of the non-Mulder seasons.

That ending chokes me up every time. This show stayed on a couple of seasons too long, but it's still one of my all-time favorites. Can't wait for the new movie!

The different way Mulder and Scully described the sheriff. That whole episode had me laughing my ass off. My inner geek is soo excited to see the new movie.

I never really cared for the mythology episodes, especially considering that the became stupider every season and totally fell apart after the movie, but still. I haven't watched it in a long time, I think when I get home for summer I'm gonna bust out the DVD's and have a complete series marathon. The complete series being seasons 1-7. Requiem works perfectly as a finale. Though I am excited about the new movie, cause there's literally no way it can disappoint. I have zero expectations.

[/geek] My empty trash bin sound is more obscure. From 'V: The Final Battle' "I shall rid you of this nuisance once and for all." I still get a little shudder when I see the original movie trailer and the screen goes black and you hear "Mulder?' So good.

I was a HUGE X-Files nerd back in the day. I even have the Nitpicker's Guide. I watched it right through to it's final episode and I actually enjoyed to more obscure/romantic turn it took in the last season. I think this second movie is about 5 years too late, especially if the rumours about the sex scene are true, but I'll drag my hubby to it anyway.

The first movie that came out: I got all kind of crap from the theater in the town I was living in, because I strike a slight resemblance to Gillian Anderson and pulled off being Scully pretty well... at the time I had the red bob going and was always being asked if I knew who I looked like (red bob is now waist length and wheat colored LoL) . I unintentionally ruined my kids Halloween by escorting them around town as Scully, that October. (people kept yelling "Scully" at me... scaring my little ones). Now this has me wanting to unbox my collection... tapes, actions figures, magazines... at one point I was an official card carrying X Phile. LoL Ahhhhh, I miss those days! Some of my favorites: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose... Post-Modern Prometheus... Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'... (I was a bigger fan of the stand-alones... though I did have a few favorites in the myth arc)

I OD'd marathoning then couldn't watch anymore until what I saw sunk in. Then I waited too long to marathon again and had to start all over from season one. LOL I don't think I've gotten beyond season 3 yet. I am on a Stargate SG1 kick right now with Dark Angel intermissions. What I have loved about the DVDs besides no commercials, was that I thought I had seen all of the episodes through season 6 but I missed some. I loved discovering previously unknown to me episodes. That will happen with the majority of the episodes in season 7+. The Lone Gunmen! sigh I think their appearances mark my favorite Xfiles episodes. Their series was a massive disappointment to me. I still love the characters but I could not stand how 3 stooges their series was.

Posts: 2014 (03/29/08 03:59 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Was a big fan of the show growing up; watched the show from the very first episode in 1993 when I was 11 years old through the finale 9 years later. For the first 5 years or so, the show was simply amazing. My favorite show on TV. Thought the stand alone episodes started falling apart in year 6, as did the mythology shortly after when they became obsessed with killing everyone off, something which really screwed them in years 8 & 9 when all the villains from the early years were dead and they came up with that super soldier garbage. The resolution to the Samantha Mulder thing in season 7 was probably the single worst resolution to a storyline in the history of television. At least that's what I thought at the time. Completely contradicted every episode before that, and it was a shame that they never fixed it over the last couple of years. Mulder & Scully having a baby was also a horrific mistake, and when Scully gave him away near the end of the show it was even worse. By the time the finale came and ended up being little more than a glorified clip show, my supreme dissappointment in what had been my favorite TV show for so long was complete. Looking forward to seeing the new movie this summer though! :P

If I can recall, they had shitty timeslots at the beginning. They didn't get their Sunday night before a couple of seasons. This is just from my head but I don't know if they thought of doing a couple of seasons if the movie is a success. I would do 2 seasons with no UFO crap and only real X-Files cases with maybe one bad guy (Krychek?). Maybe kill Mulder or Scully or both at the last episode or find a way to get closure for the X-Files.
