^ Unless you're Rupert. Then they ask you if you want to play in the next season about three months in advance. Thank goodness he keeps saying "no"!

This may be a bit out of the thread topic but Rupert was mentioned so the "door" was opened: I was embarrassed for anyone related to Survivor that Rupert was the one that presented Dani her check on The Morning Show after Guatemala. I guess no one else from SEG or CBS was available... Amazing.

They figured out no one watches the morning show. That's why they sent poopert. I am putting air in the wheelbarrows tire Weezie. If I go this will be open casting call #5 for me.
I did the same thing on the second one I went to LP. Last one some guy dropped his drawers. There were people there too that took the apps but I never thought they were from SEG. They do have radio and local coverage of it though and they try to get you involved. First one was at Local CBS station but the rest have been at Bar/Restraunt places and this season at Auto Dealer. Some camera men will ask questions if you get stuck others won't. I dont think the two minutes is something you should worry about when you are doing it. They don't care if your intersting they will want more. Dont let other people in line psyche you out either they are in the same boat you are. No better chance than you have. |

I went to a similar styled casting call for "Going the Distance" and sat at a table w/ 4 idiots. The dumbass PA called me out for "insulting the other applicants by stating that I qualified for a SAT teaching job by having extremely high scores" Then this military asshole said that he had a 1560 and that he didn't need to mention it as part of his intro...(dumbass..then why state it?) I wanted to bitchslap him back to bootcamp. We got into a huge fight and then the PA rejected us both because I made a comment about her panties....and insulted military discharge guy for being so flaming gay that I would catch on fire just by sitting in the same room as him...not to insult any of my gay friends on this board, but that guy was a complete asshole that was out of his realm. I hope that the survivor interviewers are not the same way. Fuck ABC! I'll stick solely to applying for survivor from now on.

Wallyhorse posted a link on The Apprentice board to an article called The Omarosa Experiment at themorningnews.org.
It's mostly about Omarosa and Sam of The Apprentice, but also quotes Survivor's Burton and refers to Survivor quite a bit. It's a really interesting read about the psychology of reality show applicants and who gets chosen. Maybe it will inspire those of you applying to hone your strategy--or decide not to apply! |

Interesting but I would prefer to experience it first hand. I wonder if they pegged Richard Hatch as a tax evader.

Personally I never thought he was that smart. You'd think CBS would have bailed him out paid his taxes and hushed it up.
Like Dan Rathers big lie. Which supports your theory no plea bargain=2 to 13 years of manlove. |

Sorry if this is off topic, but are they ever going to change the Guatemala theme here?! Don't they usually change it the day of the premiere of a new season?

^ The Sucks area has a complaint thread about that. I think it's partially because EZBoard's image hosting was down for awhile.

I've been reading the profiles of the past Survivors in order to help me find what they are looking for in casting future ones. I knoticed something that I found interesting. Better than 95% (just a guess) have at least 2 years of college. A part of me is relieved (because I have a degree), but another part of me is disappointed. Most college grads I know are nothing more than educated idiots. Granted they may be experts in their particular field, but morons in everyday life and on Survivor, ala Dr. Shawn. Yes I do realize I'm ripping on myself.
Question: Is MB & the casting people running some sort of feudal society where only the Royals and Knights are allowed to compete? What about the shit kickin' surfs? I think they need to lighten up on the elite such as the astronauts, fighter pilots, rocket scientists and NFL quarterbacks. You don't have to be one of these types to be entertaining. Look at Shane that fucker is not listed as having a degree and he is entertaining as all hell. You may not like him, but he's fun to watch. |

Does anyone know if they respond to all applicants? Or should you expect that if you haven't been notified that you didn't make the semi-final round?

Quote: They've already tried that--it was called Survivor: Vanuatu (remember Chris? Twila? Bubba? Sarge?). But I think the fact it was a lousy season had less to do with the preponderance of non-white collar types and more to do with the overall lousy casting that resulted in a largely forgettable group of castaways. But yeah, the faded 40-something male hero stereotype is pretty damn tiresome. |

I just think there should be a good mix thats all. Throw em' all together and let the voting sort em' out. Meh.
