Yes! SI we'll be waiting for your review when you watch it. "Hard Candy Christmas" and "It's a little bitty piss ant country
place". Wooo! Of course "Nine of Five" is a camp masterpiece. <3 I also remember loving that movie where she played Dr. Shirley the
psychiatrist.

I actually went to see Straight Talk at the theater. I'm not sure why now. Given Dolly's fan base, Straight Talk wasn't the best title.
The Dolly/James Woods pairing will go down as one of the strangest ever in cinema, but they had some chemistry. I still remember the scene where she had to debate the snooty psychiatrist and he kept asking her where she went to college. Finally she said, "I went to the university of Screw U." She's incredibly progressive, gives back to her local community, funny, a brilliant songwriter, and if nothing else, kept that sleazy Colonel Tom Parker from cheating her out of millions over IWALY. |

This was the best show they've had this season aside from 70s night with the top 10 guys. I thought 7 out of 9 singers did fine (Brooke and David Cook
being the exceptions). Dolly is cool and obviously did a good job with this year's pretty talented but somewhat underachieving group. FYI: Saying you love
Dolly Parton will not get you banned from here. Don't ask what will, it's too horrible!

I think her songs are even more fantastic than the beatles!! and I thought everyone did really well with their choices with the exception of devil's pork chop. |

Dolly's talent is indisputable, but she is a smart smart lady with a huge heart. Dolly knew early on she was marketable in more ways than songwriting and
singing and she took the ball and ran with it. It is phenominal how a 5 ft tall country girl from backwoods Tennessee has become the player she has in the
world of entertainment. She wanted fame, money, and the big brass ring. By golly she got it and managed to still maintain class and decency.

I never got into her music much when I was a kid, but she was one of my 70's crushes... As I've gotten older, I definitely respect her musicianship
and songwriting abilities.

I love, love, love Dolly Parton. I've seeen all her movies, and in the last year I've been listening to a classic country music station that plays
quite a bit of her songs. (Did you know she has a version of Stairway to Heaven as well?). She's incredible. However, I will have to say that she needs to
lay off the Botox. She and Pricilla Presley both look so rigid and can barely move their mouths to talk. I think they should just be brave and age gracefully
the natural way. It's just so uncomfortable to watch celebrities transform into store front mannequins bit by bit. Eeew.

Truvy - OMG love that character. Dolly's not quite as frightening looking as Priscilla but she's getting there if she doesn't back off the
cosmetic surgery. I'm all about looking as good as you can for as long as you can but there comes a time you have to accept the wrinkles and go with it. I
know 60 seems ancient to alot of young folks, but in these times women can still look good at 60. You just don't look good to young men, but hey I've
seen some looker men at 60 and with viagra they're still good to go !

Another great Dolly quote, from the set of Steel Magnolias:

Im 43 and I knew 3 of her songs.
David Archuleta's tween fans must have been thinking "who is this woman?" |

While Dolly is all kinds of amazing, she sorta sucked as a mentor. Meaning she couldn't bring herself to critique ANYONE, even when necessary. Instead, she
claimed she liked everyone's performances even when some of them clearly sucked.

I have also loved Dolly Parton for years, both as a musician and for her marvelous, self-depricating sense of humor and her genuine thankfulness and humility
in spite of all of her wealth and superstardom.
One of my favorite quotes from her: "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap!" I also liked her comment last night about trying to keep her false eyelashes on. She just tells it like it is. However after not seeing her for several years, while she was on the show last night all I could think of was - Too * Much * Work. (plastic surgery) Whoever her plastic surgeon was, he/she did a real disservice to Dolly. I've seen some really beautiful facial plastic surgery by some outstanding surgeons, however she got a bad job, unfortunately. |
