OPEC is the market, Flute. They exist to control the supply and the price of oil. Nothing else.
We can't legislate against them or regulate them because they are not within our jurisdiction. All we can do is to lessen our dependence on them by creating additional sources of energy that they don't control. |

Without regulation, banks could .. oh, make subprime loans and screw up the economy.

Lets give Flute a head start on her answer.

The gubbert regulation will drop oil price significantly. But you won't be able to get any except via black market

It's simple. If the markets and banks screw up the economy, guess who's getting punished with more regulations?
Regulation = Control Control = Power Power = Good |

by yahoo's thinking, lets give the government total control of everything. that would be the best scenario since they would have all the power.

I'm pretty sure Bush created another government regulatory agency today. One that republicans have been pushing for. Now we can all agree, regulation is a
good thing.

What? No righteous indignation over the Ludacris rap song?

Most of the public supports more drilling, according to recent polling. The Dems may need to find a way to allow it in some capacity.
Oh, getting back to Kaine, some people are speculating that, since he keeps opening his mouth about this stuff, it's a purposeful distraction arranged by the Obama folks. Like let the media chase these rumors for a few days while he interviews his actual finalists. Maybe Kaine gets a Cabinet slot in return or something. |

As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn't want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.

McCain's campaign staff is beginning to scare me. The constant whining about Obama's popularity reminds me of those troubled loners who suffer from
real and perceived slights at the hands of those who are more "popular" than them. Loners who suffer from a downward spiral of obsessed depression
that ultimately leads to vows to get even with their "tormentors" by any means possible.
In this post-Columbine era of school, mall and church shootings, should this behavior be rewarded? |
