I am surprised by all the hype. Didn't the exact same scenario happen with Paul Potts. I don't remember it until AFTER he won. Oddly enough Paul wasn't even the odds on favorite, Connie the 6 year old was. Which makes sense that viewers would be more likely to vote for a cute 6 year old over a fugo bucktooth freak. Susan on the otherhand, really doesn't have much opposition. |

I think there is a difference. Paul Potts was merely a very good singer. This Susan Boyle however, is truly great one. |

^ I hope you're right, but have you heard her "My Heart Will Go On" from Larry King Live? It was very mediocre--almost painful.
ETA: Nevermind. I just listened to "Cry Me A River" for the first time. WOW! Maybe the "My Heart" performance was just messed up through the satellite feed... |

I just watched her appearance on LKL. "My Heart Will Go On" might not have been the wisest choice, considering how overplayed it is and how many people are tired of hearing that song. But trying to put all that aside and judging her on the merits, I'd say it was pretty damn good, especially for someone just sitting in a chair in her living room with no musical accompaniment - and a yapping dog in the background! |
