With the coming of the F3 and the Idol, a F5 alliance isn't what it used to be. It can't remotely be a fair deal for all. Once almost everyone had hope of booting the biggest threat and bringing someone less popular. Now most players have a choice - be loyal and resign youself to almost certainly losing, and go after the threats really early.Ozzy: The thing is, it wasn't like we had to go to the end together. We just had an alliance to make it to the top five together, and then all bets are off. I was like, if I lose at that point, I'd gladly go home, that's fine. I did what I could to keep her safe in the beginning of the game.
Tom and Ian were allowed to make F5 in Palau partly because others knew they'd have 3 shoys to boot them. But a F5 alliance with Ozzy guarantees him F4, since he's safe on more round. Then he's one endurance IC win from victory.
In S16, the chcikens are beginning to come home to roost for MB. His innovations to protect deserving leaders and threats have produced a sitautaion where Ozzy types must be targeted much earlier if players like Parvati or Cirie are to have a shot.
Logically the F3 can lead in two directions. Either players accept they can't win and help their deserving friends, a Becky and Cassandra did.
Or they start playing as individuals soon after the merge, try to be the player with the most mastermind credility left at the end, and hope the jury rewards them. That's what Parvati seems to be doing, and I can't of any better way for her to play.
