This is "The Mole", the successful reality show that the American channel ABC recorded in Chile

The producer Scott Stone tells why he elected Pomaire, Concepcion, Salto del Laja and Santiago for his recordings.

First it was James Bond. Now it is the return of one of the most important shows to American television channel ABC, which elected Chile to produce one of its most successful programs: the reality show "The Mole".

Its return is announced for May 26, in prime time, and has already begun to generate expectation with small alerts, like the one that was issued at the end of the season of "Lost".

"We chose Chile because it gives us the opportunity to go to the beach, the mountains, the desert, and the forest", says Scott Stone, the producer of the reality show, over the telephone from Los Ángeles.

"The Mole" returns to the screen after four years. The program began with two successful seasons in 2001 and 2002, and its structure is based on contestants who pass tests by challenges and, most importantly, must find out who among them is "the mole", an infiltrator from the production crew who disrupts the contestants' work. In 2003 and 2004 there were two versions, the latest in Yucatan (Mexico). "This program is different from other reality shows, because no one is eliminated by popularity; they earn the right to play, not because they are more famous," says Stone about the program, which this time will be hosted by Jon Kelley.

The producer said that the decision to record in Chile was made eight weeks ago and explained: "We were there for three weeks and now we go away." He adds: "The Chilean people were very kind to us and were very easy to work with."

"The Mole" was recorded in Salto del Laja, Los Ángeles, Concepcion, and several locations in Santiago and Pomaire, which revolutionized the town last weekend. Will local aspects be portrayed in the show? "There are many elements of Chilean culture that will be on the agenda: we film in Pomaire with its famous chanchitos, and will also show the food, music, history, architecture and folklore of Chile," says Stone, who does not reveal how many of the 10 episodes the program was developed in the country.

The production said it was not related nor had talks with the teams of James Bond, which was also filming while in the north. "The only thing that happened to us was that the police stopped us for a broken rear view mirror. That was what made us most afraid," says a relaxed Stone, who still does not know if it will issue in Chile.

"Chile has a very beautiful geography to record our program."
