Remove this ad Just sent an e-mail to a friend about his daughter Kerin's HS graduation party. At least I think it's Kerin. Or its Karyn or Caren or something, all I know is that it 's NOT Karen. Christ. I actually found myself stressing out to ensure that I spelled her name correctly. Why do people do this? It's almost as bad as naming a kid Maynard.

It's become almost the norm to do this to chick's names anyway. Because you really can't do it to a boy, lest he get the crap beat out of him all the time. Guys have to be Dave or Jack or Ben or Craig...or something that can be easily shortened. One syllable is preferable, though there are obvious exceptions. But fucking simple. We're guys. We don't have time for 'Oh, that's an interesting name.' 'Yeah, mom was an asshole.'
