Rock Star: Supernova's Ryan Star had plenty of singing and songwriting talent (he was vastly better than Lukas Rossi, for example), but so much about him
was fake and forced that he became annoying, especially when he made such an ass of himself the night he was eliminated. He would have fit right in on Idol.

Bo and Waterhead are the top 2, but at the risk of getting red X's thrown at me, based on what I heard from LA last week, I'm putting Rock and Roll
Nurse Overmyer on the list.
I was a huge fan of Daughtry on the show, but I just couldn't buy his album. He's so watered down that he became a North Carolina reservoir. Daughtry made the Final 50 for "Rockstar: INXS" but was cut. J.D., Marty Casey, and Jordis Unga made that summer. Rockstar: Supernova had Dilana, who was great until she showed that she had no songwriting skills. Meanwhile, had Josh Logan and Dana Andrews been on American Idol last year or this year, people would not be complaining as much how bad the seasons were.

Rockstar! Great memories! I was in the audience that very same week, standing in front of where INXS were sitting! JD was my fav and I still listen to his
Rockstar songs on my mp3 player.

Nobody has mentioned Ty Taylor, another great rocker who probably should have gone further (I liked him better than Jordis or MIG).
My favorite outrageous memory of Rock Star: Supernova came when Zayra Alvarez admitted several weeks into the show that SHE HAD NEVER HEARD ANY OF THE MUSIC OF THE PEOPLE SHE WAS AUDITIONING FOR. I'm still amazed they didn't cut her on the spot. In 7 seasons I don't think Idol has ever had a contestant who was as clueless as her. |

^ Hunny she was in diapers when that stuff was out. She actually HEARD of their music, she isn't a fan of it though. <3

Nadia Turner and Amanda Overmeyer.
As for ROCKSTAR, Marty Casey wins hands down. |

Both Rockstar seasons had 4 good to very good rock singers in their top 6 (JD, Marty, Suzi and Ty in season 1; Dilana, Toby, Magni, and Storm in season 2). The
problem is that Supernova didn't pick ANY of the good ones they had. Lukas was horrible. I am also going to disagree with Houster. I thought Dana was great
and was sorry she was booted so early (she looked great in those boots and hot pants, which didn't hurt either).
As for Ryan Star, Drew B and I disagree somewhat (Drew ALWAYS knew he was an ass, I didn't realize it till his last week) but one thing I think we can ALL agree on is that his stage name is pathetic. Even assuming his real name is something like Bernie Schwartz or Krekor Ohanion, what aspiring male rock star picks a name designed to confuse him with an unsuccessful FEMALE contestant who'd been on American Idol 5 years earlier? |

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. I thought Dana Andrews and Josh Logan were very good. I just wanted to see them on "Idol" because they were a
bit more pop-rock, but a lot more talented than the average "Idol" contestant.

Dana was one of my early favorites. Too bad she crashed and burned, but she was still better than Ryan and Zayra and that short blonde Long-Island bitch and a
few others...

The long island bitch is Jill Gioia. She insured her early departure by doing an all-too convincing imitation of Courtney Love the second week of the show
(which ironically became even more authentic when she very angrily denied doing any such thing). Talk about leading with your chin--the LAST thing a bunch of
macho rockers wants in their band is another Courtney Love!
I agree with the earlier comment made about Dilana. They wanted the new band member to write and she simply wasn't a songwriter. Since she got to second place anyway, that probably was what kept them from picking her. I'm very glad to see other people here who also liked Dana. I felt very alone when she was booted, even though it was a "heroic" boot (the band liked her but just thought she was too young). |
