How can Terry be worse than Tom when he was outnumber 6 to one when Tom had the number on his side? Tom didn't face the opposition like Terry did.

Tom won. ;) In all seriousness, Tom put himself into that position by dominating the pre-merge challenges and then making smart--not brilliant, mind you, but above average--strategic moves. Yeah, he needed those last two IC wins but when he'd lost two ICs prior to that, he managed to escape without getting a single vote cast against him. Whether he was all BS or not, he had the social game down other than with Coby. Challenge-wise, objectively speaking they're probably equal. But strategically, Terry just didn't explore the options well enough especially considering that he had the idol as leverage.

Exactly--once someone gets a slot on the show, it's all in their hands and I can't blame them for wanting to win a million bucks more than making riveting television. Vee and Brian figured out what they needed to do and did it. But as a viewer it negatively affected the show IMO.

Also, don't think Heidik deserves to either because an asshole had already won (ie Hatch). Yeah he evolved the show, but there were still people now who didn't want to play the game (Chicken, Lisi, Kathy, Osten, Jeff, Ashlee, Janu, you can list a lot more. The difference is that these players all leave early because they are no use for them (just like Gabe was).

I don't mean people who don't want to play in the sense of quitters--although that's definitely a fair point. I think most of those people came in intending to play the game but realized when they got on the island that they weren't cut out for it. Whereas people like Gabe and Greg had other motives when they applied (probably not fair to include a Borneo contestant in that group but I think Greg would want to be the goofball comic relief more than fight to win in any season).

As far as Richard's win, that's true too. But as much as people debated alliances back in 2000, Rich was pretty spot-on when he said that he played an ethical game--out of all the winners, he was easily the most upfront and honest, albeit a bit deceptive. But Brian perfected the art of the merciless backstab. In retrospect, I love that such a ruthless guy has won the game but as I said earlier, it took out the human element. You could play the game incredibly viciously and nobody would think anything of it.

Although in fairness, Vee did the same thing with Kathy the season before and she was much more of a fan favorite than anyone in Thailand, so the game probably would have evolved in that direction with or without Brian. He just sped up the process.

I still think we need more Frank's and Rudy's cast who are military men that arn't alpha males who think they are better than everyone else. We need that comic relief back.
