Makes me wonder if the producers instructed Jon to say this so that they could create drama later on. I wouldn't be surprised actually. In Bill's book, he mentions an incident where one of the producers tried getting the players rilled up since they were getting along so well. I don't agree with this tactic. If they want to create drama, they should hire a Nicole or Paul type as their Mole to stir things up.RNO: But of course I have to ask you about your "meltdown" after the diary burning. You've indicated to me there was more to it than what we saw - can you spill it now?
Mark: I've caught a bit of flak for being a baby when I should have known full well that something like that may happen, so I will answer this truthfully. We were told on day one by Jon Kelley as we stood in front of the falls that contrary to prior seasons, our journals were "for our eyes only," and would not be messed with.
Therefore, I was journaling to my wife, in real time, everything that I was experiencing. I wanted her to be on the journey with me, and the journal was a way for me to "talk" to her throughout each day. I had written over thirty pages to her. I had planned on letting her read and experience my adventure when I got home. I had shared this fact in all my interviews… stupid me, I know.
So, when they burned that journal, I felt like someone had stolen a gift from my wife and it really did upset me. The others totally understood why too, as you could see from their reactions.
