Remove this ad Danny Bonaduce, Dennis Rodman and Dustin "Screech" Diamond are heading into the ring to compete in CMT's upcoming reality series "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling." Also on board are Todd Bridges ("Diff'rent Strokes"), super-heavyweight boxer ButterBean, Trishelle Cannatella ("The Real World"), Erin Murphy (Tabitha Stephens on "Bewitched"), Frank Stallone, '80s pop star Tiffany and Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering. In addition, professional wrestling manager Jimmy Hart has joined Hogan and former World Championship Wrestling president Eric Bischoff as judges on the show, in which the contestants will compete to be named "Celebrity All-Star Wrestling Champion" based on their performance in various challenges that will include mastering complex wrestling moves, talking trash and working a live audience. The cast also will be coached by former pro wrestlers Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Brian Knobbs. Production is under way in Los Angeles for a fall premiere. The eight-episode series is based on an original concept by exec producers Hogan, Bischoff and Jason Hervey. From The Hollywood Reporter

Dustin, Trishelle, D-Rod, Bonaduce, and even Willis all showed glimpses of potential and the editing was very solid. Having Bubba analyze the matches out of kayfabe really worked for me and I think that next week when they have the whole first half of the show dedicated to the training aspect of the compeition, the quality of the program will only improve. I was pleasantly surprised, I give episode one a solid B.

Like at least say these two have a LITTLE experience....and is anyone else really surprised that Johnny Fairplay isn't on this? I wish he was on it with Bonaduce....hopefully Bonaduce does end up choking Screech at least.

I knew when I saw Danny on this show he would be a natural heel, so there was no doubt he was put into the right situation right away. I have a feeling they are going to change things up next week swap roles, so we will have to see Danny play the face character, which should be quite interesting. Rodman, Butterbean and Danny are clearly the favorites in this. Trishelle, if she wins, is probably the only one who could actually turn this into a full on career and potentially work for WWE, or more likely, TNA. Don't be surprised to see Nikki stick around purely because Hulk needs eye candy for the show.

I would actually argue that both Dustin Diamond and Todd Bridges have better odds at winning this then Butterbean. Butterbean cannot move and has never demonstrated even the slightest amount of personality to me. I think Trishelle is the dark horse in this whole thing (she did better then average in Ep. 1) and that Vince, Johnny Ace, and company would seriously consider signing her as she would be the perfect compliment (for many reasons) to Miz and Morrison's current act. I'm not sure how this is doing in the ratings, but it really doesn't matter as I am sure it is doing much better then it's lead out, "my Big Fat Redneck Wedding". Production values are really high on this and I have to admit to being entertained and at times surprised by a few of the in ring performances. Dustin Diamond gets it. And at only 30 years old, I could definitley see TNA expressing interest in him after this is all said and done. He already understands the dynamics of working a crowd and the basics of how to tell a story. He is the early favorite without question. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't win this. Trishelle continues to impress me, as does (to a lesser extent) Bonaduce and Bridges. I still really don't consider it fair that Rodman is in this compeition as he has a few big time matches under his belt - one of which that almost went 40 minutes! With that said however, I am a Rodman fan and if he can stay focused and actually apply his athletic ability to the in-ring work he could actually build himself a nice little skill set. He also is a hilarious interview so I hope he is around until the end.
