I mean Katie was dragged out of her bed, she was bit etc. then comes PA2 where the sister who lives nearby has not been bothered with any of that information outside of "There's strange shit going on in our new house, just like when we were kids." If I were Katie, seems like I would've let her known if it escalated that badly.

Think about it...PA2 happens until the husband did the spell with the maid for the demon to leave kristi and go to her sister- so what you need to remember is that once the spell is done...THEN the WHOLE PA1 is happening to the Mika and Katie (from the spell- until Katie goes to get hunter at the end of PA2. GOT IT?? I can't tell tou why she knows so much about this...but just trust me

Posts: 31922 02/07/12 11:27 PM Gadabout Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I still think the storyline of this one was the low point of the trilogy, but it was a scarier entry than PA2. Little girls are the scariest thing in the universe. Also Teddy Ruxpin. PA2 starts with the house getting trashed...the family thinks it's a burglary and sets up the surveillance cameras, while the audience is supposed to believe that the ghost did it. Now I'm thinking that the grandma or her witch friends did it, and stole the tapes and the girl's necklace, and THEN sicced the demon on Kristi (though my theory is still that the demon is just a mediawhore and likes being on camera, because it's only causing trouble when asshole boyfriends are fucking around with cameras). I don't like the horror genre, and the only horror films that appeal to me are the ones that are actually, genuinely scary, and Paranormal Activity is a prime example (Blair Witch being the undisputed master of this era imo).

I mean I don't know if that was a bad theory but I have to think it was the ghost because the only room that wasn't touched was hunters

I thought that's what happened). It had to have gone somewhere, and I doubt the ghost lugged a box down the street to some hidey-hole (though yes, it did put the picture in Katie's attic). It's very strange that the movie never explained how the "filmmakers" got hold of the tapes to make the movie in the first place.

Speaking of this, did anyone see the 'alternate endings' (2 others) of the original PA? do NOT scroll down if you didn't see it I LOVED the police shooting ending and how the demon turned the hallway lights on to let the cops know where she was. CREEPY the self slitting throat was lame-o

Though I only watched 1 and 2 on Netflix so I didn't give them money. Though I did see the 3rd one which I commentated during it like Rachel from Scream 4. <3 But like the crowd was so rude. Shut the fuck up people I'm watching the movie. So instead I started bitching about it during the movie to get revenge.

But wasn't there a point at which Katie thought she could call up her sister and let her know that the mildly creepy occurrences in her house are now pulling her out of bed and such? I know that this is what Kristi and her husband wanted, so to speak, but I find it a bit of a plot hole that the sisters stop communicating with each other when these things escalate.

Posts: 31922 02/09/12 01:30 AM Gadabout Reply Quote More Recent Posts	True "jump cuts" are often used in "found footage" films (PA uses them a lot) as well as real documentaries (it's not a horror technique). It's when you are filming a person or moving object, and remove a sequence of frames so that the person will appear to "jump" instantly into another state. It's usually used either to jolt the viewer out of SoD for some reason or to give the impression of time passing. Example: a character walks over to the table with a bowl and a cereal box, and the film suddenly cuts to them eating a full bowl of cereal. A "jump scare" or "sting" is when you show a scene as uneventful, then move away or obstruct the scene, then come back and there's the monster, invariably accompanied by a dissonant chord on the soundtrack. The obvious example is the medicine cabinet...opening a medicine cabinet in a movie has never (and I mean, literally, never) failed to reveal the killer upon closing the cabinet. PA3 (sorry for bringing it up over and over, but again, these are the only scary movies I watch) has an excellent example of a jump scare when the oscillating camera points at the babysitter in the kitchen, then pans away, then pans back and a figure in a bedsheet is standing behind her, and after a perfect amount of time the sheet collapses. That's a FANTASTIC sequence.
