If lost doesn't clean up this year it will be a cryin shame. Every episode (except maybe Jacks) kicked ass this season. Thank fuckin God that crap
Sopronos is finally out of contention.

On the comedy side, I'm expecting 30 Rock to sweep. I'm thinking Series, Actor, Actress, Writing, Will Arnett in Guest Actor and Elaine
Stritch in Guest Actress. It had such a strong year and I'm sure they have a lot of nominations coming their way. On the drama side, I have no clue. This
could be the year Lost makes it back in. I'm expecting Mad Men and Boston Legal to do well in terms of nominations.

Jeff Probst or Tom Bergeron deserve the Emmy over Semencrust any day.

Yep, Probst is the king (and pretty much the trailblazer) of reality show hosting, and I think he's GOT to win the inaugural Emmy in this category. Loves
me some Koeghlan, but he's merely the maestro of the greatness that is TAR rather than the star ... as if one person could outshine the show itself. Lots
more behind-the-scenes stuff, whereas Jeff "is" Survivor in many respects.
Tina Fey has changed her submission to "Sandwich Day" ... bravo ... and "congratulations on your Emmy Ms. Fey". This airport scene is a classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxV_Rz67MWs&eurl=http://memles.wordpress.com/2008/06/17/60th-primetime-emmy-awards-preview-lead-actress-in-a-comedy-series/ (Hopefully I can link here; I've looked for rules on it, and also looked in FAQ on "how-to" embed YouTube ... to no avail.) |

Tina Fey is really excellent and the front runner, but Julia Louis-Dreyfus is going to be stiff competition. Her submission was the season finale of Old
Christine, "One and a Half Men" and her performance is out of this world. I wish both of them could win.

Clearly the winners should be:
Leading Actor in a Drama: Matt Dallas, Kyle XY Leading Actress in a Drama: Sally Field, Brothers and Sisters Supporting Actress in a Drama: Kristen Bell, Heroes Supporting Actor in a Drama: Chris Lowell, Private Practice Clearly I am delusional. |

Thank fuckin God that crap Sopranos is finally out of contention.I take it you play a lot of video games and LOST is one of the only dramas on television you've watched. Saying LOST should sweep when The Wire and Dexter are eligible is pretty sad. Best Drama Nominees If They Weren't Made By Old Fucktards But People That Actually Watch Television: Damages Dexter Mad Men Pushing Daisies (only network drama worth two shits) The Wire Best Comedy Under The Same Criteria: 30 Rock Entourage (diminishing returns to say the least but it didn't decline as much as It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) Flight Of The Conchords (totally off or on depending on the episode. When they're at their best, they're the best though, hence the nomination) The Office Scrubs Best Variety Show: Colbert Report Daily Show Late Night With Conan O'Brien Late Show With David Letterman Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson Best Reality Competition: The Amazing Race Big Brother (unfortunately critics wrote this summer series off after the first season and haven't watched since) Hell's Kitchen Project Runway Survivor Best Animated Series: The Boondocks King Of The Hill The Simpsons some kid show South Park |

Well, that makes it easier then. Chuck Battlestar Galactica into the fifth slot for dramas and replace Entourage in the
comedy section with Pushing Daisies. Note that I have a fondness for Doctor Who as well but the Emmys are primarily around to reward American made series while
the Brits have the BAFTAs.

Chelsea Handler for the upset win for Outstanding variety/music/comedy series host! Is she or the show even eligible?

Will this be the year the voters will grow a brain and nominate The Wire? Or will it be criminally overlooked for the 5th time? I'm going with the latter
so I am not disappointed and outraged later. It's a damn shame Michael Williams was never nominated - Omar's one of the best characters ever written.

Best Drama
Big Love House Lost The Tudors The Wire - yes, I think they'll actually nominate it this year I'd love to see Breaking Bad or Mad Men sneak in, but I'm not sure an AMC show has the oomph to crack onto an Emmy list yet, despite the critics praises. Boston Legal will probably sneak in and take the Tudors spot, but I just have a feeling about this one. Best Comedy 30 Rock Curb Your Enthusiasm The Office Pushing Daisies Samantha Who I'd love Flight of the Conchords and Chuck make the list, but I doubt they will. Entourage might push out Pushing Daisies. Ugly Betty might undeservedly squeeze past Samantha Who Best TV movie/mini-series/all performances and production elements John Adams John Adams John Adams John Adams John Adams |

Unfortunately it was the best show on TV that nobody watched.
I don't see the Emmy voters changing their tune this year. There's no incentive for them to recognize The Wire. The show is done, and nominating it now only calls attention to the snubs of previous years. They are more likely to reward the trendier Mad Men instead. Also, season 5 of The Wire wasn't as universally praised by the critics as seasons 1-4. I will be pleasantly surprised if it picks up nominations, but I doubt it. |

With all the tv I watch how is it that I've never heard of The Wire?I've met plenty of people that regularly watch like thirty programs, all of them shitty. Same with those that call themselves movie buffs and only go see the blockbuster shit-fests every other week. |

If you've never seen The Wire, then you haven't ever experienced television imo.

TVGuide is reporting that the Emmy academy has released the 10 finalists in the two major show categories.
They are.... Comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm Entourage Family Guy Flight of the Conchords The Office Pushing Daisies 30 Rock Two and a Half Men Ugly Betty Weeds Drama Boston Legal Damages Dexter Friday Night Lights Grey's Anatomy House Lost Mad Men The Tudors The Wire I don't know what surprises me more that Family Guy is getting credit as an animated series or that Boston Legal is still on the air. |
