Good celery doesn't need to be destrung.
You probably buy your celery at the same place pie buys hers. |

I hate celery.. but I have to admit that I love it when making turkey stock and in stuffing for turkey! Mmmm.. I dice it up extra tiny and it adds the perfect
flavor to the Mrs Cubbison's Dressing mix!
I'm going to make a 4th of July turkey! This thread has convinced me! |

it's called PEELING. Not destringing.
If your celery is fresh there is no need to do this. If it's not so fresh and you are eating it raw, I suppose you have to peel it. I mostly only eat the white inner stalks. but I LOVE celery. It's underused. It's really wonderful sauteed in butter or as a main ingredient in a salad. |

Celery is made of long string-like fibers. If you de-stringed it there would be nothing left.

Those of you that hate eating raw celery still use it in recipes tho, right? It is an essential flavor in so many dishes that would not be the same if it was
omitted. A mirepoix is the base for so many things.
