There is a guy in the next town that just got sole custody of his 12 year old son (2 months ago) on the grounds his son was abused by his mother.
The kid is now 12, 220+lbs, 5'2". He just lost about 20lbs in the time he has been with his Dad.
The father is now home schooling him, and making Porky run twice a day, work on his farm and greenhouse operation, AND study 5hrs a day, 7 days a week.
The Judge actually stated the mom, who fed him anything he wanted (almost all junk food and frozen meals) was abusive and caused him potentially fatal health problems. She is allowed supervised access only twice a month, for a half day. She is not even allowed to buy him dinner on supervised visits. The dude is a local celeb, he has been successful at keeping the newspaper from printing the story, but I hope this kind of thing happens more.
