Have Any OT'ers Traveled to Thailand? |
Lead | |
|
I've been looking into taking a 14 day trip through EF Collegebreak to Thailand, just curious if any OT'ers have traveled to Thailand and what there
thoughts were about their stay? The more I read about certain places and the culture/history the more compelled to get things rolling for this trip next May.

My brother Bill lives there and likes it very much. He's been there for more than 20 years.
That's all I got. |

Never been to Thailand, but I do find EF to be ridiculously overpriced.

NO, but I've heard the beaches are beautiful and it's areally bad idea to try and smuggle heroin or gold out of the country. I'd love to go.

I went to Thailand back in November 2006 with me and my parents during my Semester Break in College. I went to Bangkok and Nakhon Pathom on the elephant show
which our tour guide went to existing temples and an elephant show with a program. My father booked tickets for us for the Philippine Airlines flight to
Bangkok. I first arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport outside Bangkok, which the old airport (Don Mueang) had closed for military aircraft until it reopened in
February 2007. I saw Thai people wore Yellow shirts.
Me and my parents stayed at Bangkok Palace Hotel infront of British Embassy with a Filipino couple. The Filipino couple had three days and we stayed at four days. We went to First House Hotel in Bangkok which my mother's first visit in that city two years earlier. I saw a Filipina works in Singapore for vacation in Bangkok.

of the companies you look into, you get your moneys worth, you don't have to deal with the hassle of planning the trip/transportation and you meet a lot of
great people on the trip. I've read some horror stories from EF travels. My experience overall with them was great, I'd consider doing on again, though
this time I'd be doing it through EF College Break as last time, I just went through the regular EF, we had a group.

Kitten Gloves wrote: Anyone ever see that movie, Breakdown Palace, I think it took place in Thailand, these girls take this guys bag they met to the airport for him and go down for his drugs and are taken to this prison where they get beat with bamboo sticks! That would scare the hell out of me to go down for something like that, luckily I don't do drugs and would never take someones bag, I'd be paranoid enough to have to search my entire bag the morning before leaving! That movie disturbed me. |

Also, lots of places didn't charge admission if you were under 18 but about half of our group had already had their birthdays so EF didn't cover their entrance fees which sucked for them. I don't know, it just was not a smooth experience. Oh, and we were only there for 10 days and only received continental breakfasts and dinner.

Did a Business/vacation dealie in Bangkok. Fucking amazing place. The cultural differences and historical landmarks alone will make the trip memorable. More
wats then you can shake squash's stick at. Took a day trip up to Ayatthea (the old capital, before the Burmese attacked on war elephants and beheaded all
the buddha statues). Great street food in Bangkok - and it's cheap. Your plane tix will be the most expensive thing on the journey. If you want more
info, drop me a PM.
