Let me put it this way, Tres:
That futon looks like something a straight man would buy for his apartment. 'Nuff said... |

Sorry. Straight men don't have the monopoly on bad taste. All you need to do is go to a gay pride parade to figure that one out.

I don't think anyone actually paid attention to the criteria. She is broke but still wants somewhere to sit. Yes it's not what a designer would pick
out and go "These are perfect". If you can look at them in the store and see how comfy they are, and how sturdy they are, then I say go for it. You
can do something to add color later, like pillows, a throw, or maybe an ascot.
A used leather sectional with recliners? Did you look at the price? She is looking at $100 each, not something like $1200. How much are you budgeting for Tres? |

actually, i did pay attention to the criteria, own one and based on her criteria do not recommend it.

Ok, that's one of you. The rest of you can all suck it. Especially Loki and SHag for their horrible suggestions.

Oy vey.
Tres, do you have an Ashley furniture store near you? If so, go there. Do not pass go. They have great (well, kinda) microsuede sectionals on sale right now for under 600 bucks. You know, the kind with the chaise on one end? Very comfortable and very cleanable, and you can set up payments. Ashley has pretty good looking furniture, I don't know how durable it is, but how long does a 600 buck sofa have to last, anyway? |

I don't think a sectional would fit in the room she wants to put it in. It is sort of long and narrow. The futons also have an advantage of being lower.
These will be primarily for the dogs and one is very old, another is ancient (18 years old), another is getting up in years and the puppy. The lower futons
would help out the canine geriatric set.

Good thought, Hoodie, she has several but the dogs like to be on the human couch. Plus, two of the dogs are so big they need a couch. That dinky little bed
would be a pillow for their heads.

Mom Holio, this is the one I saw the other day. It is only 80 inches long. Really good price, and that ultrasuede stuff that is so cleanable.
The one I saw was in a darker color too.

Does it come in black-and-white checkerboard pattern?
Or was it leopard print? |

That is a great looking sofa, Trho.

I think they're making futons with inner spring mattresses now, not the old hard, soon to be lumpy ones

There were some pictures of someone's home that had some gawdawful dead African animal print throughout. Zebra, leopard, tiger, penguin...some shit like
that...

I once bought a clean, excellent condition, cool retro kitsch couch and chair set (each on four casters) for $40. It's true. You can get some really good
deals with used furniture.

If by 'throughout', you mean merely two bergere chairs, then yeah.
