I <3ed the China twist of kidnapping, seriously, it was really nice to see them form alliances that COULD help in the merge.

14. Reward winner is given a choice to either allow everyone else but themselves to win reward or keep it for themselves.
Seasons: Amazon, Guatemala Memorable Quote: "If you are willing to give up your visit from your mother, I will make sure that your other five tribemates will all get a visit from their loved ones." -Probst Here's a twist that may sound a bit unfair originally, and in the case of Cindy, you could definitely make a case for it. I obviously disagree because she would have been voted off anyways whether or not she won the car after she voted with Judd at the previous tribal council, and she had every right to take the car. Rafe had no reason to be a little bitch about the whole ordeal, but it didn't affect the outcome of the game. I do think though that had she given up the cars, she may have survived one more round at most, but I also think that all five of them would have gotten their own car. So while some of you think this was a lose-lose for Cindy, I think it was a win-win because either way she would have gotten a car while finishing in about the same place. Still, this was the first twist that was thrown into the game just to screw with the castaways head as they made the tough decision. Now, the main reason this makes it to number 14 is because of Amazon. Matt won the family reward challenge easily, and he was given two options. He could either see his mother (which he had just won), or he could give that up and give everyone else a chance to see their family. He choose the second one and showed what a good guy he was, and, on top of that, he was rewarded for his selfless act and given an elaborate dinner and night with his mom. This had some funny moments in it as well, but it was a great twist to be thrown into the game. After spending weeks lying and decieving, for Matt to do something like that is amazing. My writeup is not saying that I hated Cindy's decision for not giving up the car. I liked them both, and I know a car is much harder to give up than what Matt won. She had every right to keep it for herself because of what everyone knew what was going to happen at tribal council. Matt's decision was just one of the reasons Amazon is my favorite season, even with an unlikable cast, something like that happened. 13. Eight People Jury
Seasons: Micronesia Memorable Quote: Eliza's reactions This is easily one my favorite mindfucks that the producers gave to the players. I don't know if the real reason was because James had to leave the game, or if this was their plan all along, but it was such a great idea. Starting the jury at the final ten was genius. Not only because it gave us some great reaction shots, gifs, and jury questions from Eliza, which we wouldn't have had if there were only seven jurors, but everyone thought it would, again, be a final three instead of a final two. The final three was the thing that killed China for me (and beat the dead horse for Cook Islands and Fiji), and I had forgotten about how much I hated it until Probst announced that Eliza made the jury. I was ready for a disapointing ending to a good season, but at the final three, we found out that there would be one more juror joining the seven in the jury house. Sure, I didn't like the fact that a tie was possible, but still, it felt so good that there would only be two people answering questions in the end. The fact that the second part of this twist has not shown up yet, shows how much I loved the ending for Micronesia even though Catalie and then Cirie both lost. |

Top 12. Which two will just miss out on the top 10?
Ambassadors/Merging at new camp (Borneo-Thailand) Person with more past votes leaves in a tie (Australia, Africa) Tribal Swap (Africa, Marquesas, Amazon, All Stars, Vanuatu, Guatemala, Exile Island, Cook Islands, Fiji, China, Micronesia) Reward winners "raid" enemy camp (Marquesas, Pearl Islands) Ability to give up individual immunity (Marquesas-Micronesia) Men vs. Women (Amazon, Vanuatu) All Stars return (All Stars) Three tribes (All Stars) Everyone starts together as one tribe (Palau, Fiji) HII (play before the vote) (Guatemala) Two people sent to Exile Island, one from each tribe (Micronesia) Final 3 is really a final 2 (Micronesia) |

Given that I got two right in my guess, I'll stick with the other two as my choices:
Everyone starts together as one tribe (Palau, Fiji) HII (play before the vote) (Guatemala) |

Thanks for being the only one to ever take a guess Kitty, haha. Anyone else want to take a stab at a prediction?
And the next two should be up tomarrow. |

Thanx for the update. The Car Cure Twist in Guatemala with Cindy was just unfair. I would hate to be in her posistion at that moment. I also love that when
she is bearing her torch down to Probst, she says "I'll be thinking of you guys under the roof of my new car." - Great Survivor Quote.
Eliza's expression on the jury in Micronesia = <33333333 (I remember she did it in Vanuatu as well, but not as much in Micronesia). |

She attended one tribal council as a juror in Vanuatu before FTC so therefore, less reactions.
Car Cure Twist hatred for putting Cindy in a super bad spot. |

Not a big fan of the give up your reward thing. In Guatemala it was totally unfair to Cindy, even though I do feel that she would have been voted out even
if she had given them cars. As for Amazon, Matt giving away reward was a big factor in Jenna sticking around over Christy since it made Rob think that he
couldn't use Matt as his goat anymore and should use Jenna instead, at least temporarily.

And it may seem unfair, but she was already in a bad position when the rest of the tribe didn't tell her that Judd was the boot at the final 6 TC. Also, I still think that she would have kept a car had she given them away (like they did with Matt), so it was a win-win situation for her. That was a great quote though. |

Number 12...
12. Two People Sent to Exile, One From Each Tribe.
Seasons: Micronesia Memorable Quote: "I love meeting the Favorites, I wish I was on their tribe." -Kathy After Cook Islands and Fiji, I was extremely happy to see Exile Island gone for good. At least for China, we had a break, but the producer's had the bright idea to bring it back. Luckily, instead of send one person to Exile, two would go, which made the season much better. This was the change we were waiting for to make watching Exile Island bearable, again. Now, I still got tired of it, especially post merge where only one person went at a time to basically be given a freaking HII, but originally, this was a genius concept and idea. I mean it was, at least until they stopped showing the two castaways mingle after the tribal swap. Still, we got what we wanted out of it just in the first two episodes of the twist. Watching a starstruck Kathy work with Cirie and Ami was great. Also, the twist made way for what should have been a fight for the idol, just like in Fiji, except with two people who weren't allies. Too bad that never happened, but I still appreciate the fact that castaways from opposing tribes could meet and even ally through the twist. And the final cut before the top 10... 11. Everyone starts together as one tribe.
Seasons: Palau, Fiji Memorable Quote: "We're not a tribe. We don't have our buffs. We're just getting to know everyone's name. We don't have a clue what's happening next." -Gregg Here we have another spark of greatness from Burnett and co. in the form of one more twist to fuck with the players' heads. Obviously, they were all together for reasons that would be disclosed later, but it was awesome to see everyone panic and have no idea what the hell is happening around them. It must have been hard for the nineteen/twenty castaways to all meet each other (especially for Jonathan...or Kevin), but the confusion as a whole is just great. Throw in some great moments from each season like James's "Jeff is a son of a bitch" and Yau opening the box when all the strong guys couldn't, and you've got a good idea in the works. Sure, character development may have suffered a little bit, which may be one of the reasons that Palau is my least favorite season, but had there not been any other twists (and just a regular cast size of 16), I think that they would have been able to fit more than enough screen time for everyone in the game. Note: This twist is just based off of being thrown together at the start because if it was based off the two shitty ones that followed in each season, it'd be much further back to say the least. And here's the top 10 twists in Survivor history... Ambassadors/Merging at new camp (Borneo-Thailand) Person with more past votes leaves in a tie (Australia, Africa) Tribal Swap (Africa, Marquesas, Amazon, All Stars, Vanuatu, Guatemala, Exile Island, Cook Islands, Fiji, China, Micronesia) Reward winners "raid" enemy camp (Marquesas, Pearl Islands) Ability to give up individual immunity (Marquesas-Micronesia) Men vs. Women (Amazon, Vanuatu) All Stars return (All Stars) Three tribes (All Stars) HII (play before the vote) (Guatemala) Final 3 is really a final 2 (Micronesia)

I never liked the "Person with the most previous votes leaves in a tie" tiebreaker. I would've rather had that fall out of the top 10 than
Everyone starts together.

Overall, I'm surprised to find out that I don't like most of the twists. I admit to excitedly jumping on the hype-train when a twist is coming up. I
get interested to see how it will come out. But looking at them all it is mostly yuck. Your #12 (the 2 on Exile Island) was one of the few so far I've
really liked--I like the dynamics and potential dynamics of two players from opposing teams being together for a brief period. It worked especially well with
the fans v favorites twist.
#11 was at least okay. In the top 10 I hate F3 as F2 (I wrote a long enough post about that before). I'm surprisingly meh about most of the rest. But! I do love the classic tribal switch twist. I love seeing those social dynamics switch around and finding out if any old alliances survive to the merge, so that's my vote for the win! I'd put up All Stars return up there, too. I like seeing experienced players play again, though it turned out horribly in S8 because they picked too many for their interest factor rather than their game playing factor. I think they picked much better for S16. So even though I can't think of a twist that's left that I like better, it doesn't seem worthy of the #2 spot--which pretty much sums up the twist about twists I'm experiencing. |

If not, my bad, but it's either that or you must've not liked any of the first 7 seasons that much. I understand about not liking the Final 3 to the final 2 because it did screw Cirie over, but I'm not sure how you were able to watch Amazon/Vanuatu if you hated the Men vs. Woman or how you could have not thought that Sean/Jenna, Rob/Kathy, and ect meetings were great. |

Nope. I've seen all 16 seasons. But I think I came off more negative than I meant. The only one I hate (hate!) in your top 10 is F3-->F2. (And not so much because it screwed Cirie over, but because it screwed over the possibility of the season having a strategically satisfying result over. In addition I would have loved to see Cirie in front of the jury.) The others I'm just not all that excited about but certainly didn't hate. I just thought I'd have more in the top 10 that I'd be really excited about given that I thought I loved twists. But now that you mention it--Men v. Women, which I was just thinking of as one of many interesting ways to start off a season, did create interesting results both times, so I'd add that to my top few. The meetings I'm not as excited about, but I'm not sure why just now. Maybe after I see your write up I'll know. But anyway, this is a very fun off-season thing to think about, so thank you! |

Ambassadors/Merging at new camp (Borneo-Thailand): I don't see this as special at all. I barely remember the ambassadors, and merging at a new camp is a
big meh.
Tribal Swap (Africa, Marquesas, Amazon, All Stars, Vanuatu, Guatemala, Exile Island, Cook Islands, Fiji,
China, Micronesia): Probably my favorite twist because it gives new life to some players and has helped create some of the best tribes of all time (NuMoto,
NuYaxha, NuCasaya)
Reward winners "raid" enemy camp (Marquesas, Pearl Islands): The problem with this is that it's
won by the winning tribe, which means they can take something from the already hurting losing tribe. It's like kicking a weak tribe when they're down,
and that's no fun.
Ability to give up individual immunity (Marquesas-Micronesia): It's basically only provided ONE good
moment in the 13 seasons it has been available, and it's basically pointless unless you have someone as stupid as Erik. The only reason someone would give
up immunity is to save a target, but that just puts a target on their own back, so it's pointless.
Men vs. Women (Amazon, Vanuatu): I liked the twist much more in Vanuatu because I liked the older cast, but
this is certainly a good twist.
All Stars return (All Stars): Good in theory, but it just ruins the reputations of players, which isn't
fun.
Three tribes (All Stars): This is an interesting one because it basically makes each player that much more
valuable to the tribe. A problem with this is that it makes things so that it's more important to come in top TWO rather than to win outright.
HII (play before the vote) (Guatemala): I just dislike this in comparison to the other HIIs. It's like
the current HII, only the user has absolutely no power because they have to play it before the votes are even cast, and thus that gives plenty of time for a
change of gameplan.
Final 3 is really a final 2 (Micronesia): This, combined with the 8 person jury, ruined what was potentially the best winner ever. It's just as bad as the switch from F2 to F3 that screwed Becky and Cassandra's game because it basically made it so that a player that positioned themselves perfectly for a certain situation gets screwed when that situation is changed at the last minute. |
