Hey didn't Kathy get kidnapped in All-Stars too?
Oh yeah, my bad. Shows how memorable this twist was to me because I completely forgot about that.

Seasons: Pearl Islands, All Stars (Thanks Alff), Cook Islands Rupert's kidnapping was a factor in Trish trying to blindside him (mistrust), and the possibility of a Rupert\Andrew deal at the merge that was seriously discussed. The ASS kidnapping gave Amber a chance to bond with Kathy, which was the key to her surviving the premerge tribal swap. When Nate was kidnapped he plotted with Candice and laid the groundwork for the Mutiny next episode. Candice knew she had allies over there, and Sundra was supposed to jump with her and create a white\black alliance. That's what you call Synergy between twists. |

The Allstar kidnapping did NOT set up Amber to be safe. Amber was saved because Kathy/Lex believed Mariano would return the favor and bring them into the
endgame with them. Amber was not saved by her "relationship" she made with Kathy during the kidnapping, she was saved by the thoughts of a pre-game
friendship meaning an alliance to the end.

Oh yeah, I remember that now, they took her on that reward with them.

36. Sit in on other tribe's council
Seasons: Vanuatu, Palau, Guatemala, Cook Islands Memorable Quote: (none, they couldn't talk) This is another one that came into play because of the double boots. For that reason alone I can't like it that much. Some of the twists that are included with this one, though, I thought were well thought out. In Cook Islands and Palau, I did like how they let the other tribe eat in front of them. It's cruel yet awesome all that the same time. The main problem with this ends up being that the majority of people are BSing during tribal council questions, so the people who are listening don't get any information at all. It makes it this high only because it would have been funny as hell had Yaxha won the reward challenge, and someone sat in and watched Judd's rant against Margaret. 35. Pick 0, 1, or 2 people to join the winner on the final 4 reward.
Seasons: China Memorable Quote: "...because Denise sucks at life." -Courtney Sorry for another one with a short write up. The twists here pretty much have no entertainment value, but they are much better ideas than the ones before. Here was a twist thrown into play after Amanda won the final 4 reward challenge (which I still have no idea why they had). Probst gave her the option to allow 0, 1, or 2 people to eat with her. Basically it's something that screws with your mind. She won the reward, so she should be allowed to eat it all right? Well, she can do that if she gives the finger to everyone else in the game, which also would give them the chance to pull a Rafe back at camp. She could also invite two people which is basically outcasting one of them and probably losing their jury vote in the process. Or you can tell two to get out of your face, and eat with your closest ally, which may be leaving the other two to plot. This was a great idea, unfortunately, it had zero entertainment value for the viewers. Oh and I'm still ticked off that Amanda didn't pick Denise because she decided to go swimming right when she got back to camp. If she had been invited, that horrible site could have been avoided. 34. During the auction you could win an advantage for the upcoming immunity challenge.
Seasons: Guatemala Memorable Quote: "Scumbags" -Judd This is one of those stupid ideas with no entertainment value until people realized what it meant. Oh and Steph bitching wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything new. At this point in the game, we're down to the final 6. Danni is the last Yaxha standing, and, everyone wants her to leave. Unfortunately for the Nakum alliance, at the Guatemala auction Probst offered an advantage in the upcoming Immunity challenge. All five of them know that Danni cannot win immunity this week, but for some strange reason, Danni easily wins the bid... Wait what? I can understand Stephanie and Judd both only wanting to buy food, but come on, everyone was too greedy? Everyone let the target get the prize. Sure, I agree that it is somewhat unfair that the piece of paper inside the envelope gave Danni immunity, but the Nakum 5 had an easy chance to get rid of her right then and there. Put the nail in the coffin. But nope, with it she won the challenge and helped position herself for the end game. It did end up giving us one of the best exits ever with Judd "hoping they all get bit by a freakin' crocodile", but I can't rank it any higher just because it's a dumb concept in retrospect, and it's a big reason people don't give Danni credit for her win. I think she played a good game, but I don't think she could have lasted another week without the win. Edited because my grammer sucks at night. I apologize if there's any more mistakes.

I don't know if you've included this in your list of twists, but I've always HATED that in later seasons, most reward challenges are team based.

chapera rocks wrote: Agreed, but I didn't because there's too many variations (if I did though the final eight split into four teams of two would be near the top for Sean/Pappy and Brandon/Frank). Same thing goes for all the family rewards/auction twists except Danni's since it was the only one to have a huge effect on the game. Edited because I can't type late at night. From now on I need to do these updates when I'm awake. |

I liked the ones where they split them into four groups of two, but what's with the larger groups, and every episode? Pfft.

Actually, Danni getting hours alone with Rafe and Lydia while the others were on reward would have been enough to flip the vote on Judd.

Actually, Danni getting hours alone with Rafe and Lydia while the others were on reward would have been enough to flip the vote on Judd.Maybe, but it's not guarrenteed. I still think she leaves without the twist. With it, she was able to position herself above both Judd and Cindy. She's a great player, I just don't think it was possible. |

In Cook Islands during the double boot episode, Aitu had the potential to put people into panick mode, much like what happened to Ulong when Ibe won immunity, but for one reason or another they didn't, and the obvious boot left. Even though it was boring in terms of entertainment, it would have been incredibly stupid for most of the people for Aitu to pick Cristina. The people in Aitu did not know how the pecking order would have worked in Raro, and plus they had allies on that team as well. Becky and Yul had Brad. Sundra had Rebecca. Candice had Adam/Parvati. If they picked Cristina one of those four people on Aitu could have easily lost an ally. Since they don't really know who goes next other than Cristina, it was a good choice. |
