He's going to be banned for life. "We didn't expect anything like what you have witnessed to occur," said WTF secretary general Yang Jin-suk. "I am at a loss for words."WTF secretary |

I just heard is going to be banned as well. According o the rules there is a 1 minute injury to allow a taekwondoe athlete to recuperate on the floor. If he/she doesn't get up when the 1 minute is up he/she gets disqualified. Apparently the guy was seriously injured and was waiting for a medic to show up. When the medic didn't show up and the minute was over he got disqualified. Oy, such drama at these games. Btw, did anyone watch the team synchronized swimming. The Spanish was fantastic and got 9.5's. I think they really did some great work. It was awesome to watch. But the fucking Russians, they got perfect scores. Personally I would have favoured the Spanish. I think they did a better job overall. |

Yep, I believe he's already been banned for life understandably. And it's really the "WTF"?
Here's the video, though it's zoomed out a little much. Watch around 2:00 |

Apparently both the player and his coach got the lifetime ban. |

WOW... my gaydar was cooking on this one. As soon as he started bawling when he won and all the hugs he was getting, knew he was on the rainbow team.
![]() From Pink News: "Gay hero Matthew Mitcham wins Olympic 10m diving gold medal" From gay icon, to Olympic champion, Australian, Matthew Mitcham has won his first gold medal. He is the only openly gay male athlete competing in Beijing.... And he did it with a near perfect dive, the highest marks given in the competition. AND he was the only competitor able to beat a clean sweep of gold by China in the diving events. First Greg Louganis and now Matthew! Bravo Matthew for being brave enough to come out so that your partner could share in your Olympic experience. |

That guy who pushed that runner of the marathon in 2004, what a freak. That little clip on him was the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Loved synchronized swimming (IMO, the Russian team totally kicked ass). It's too bad they didn't show the other teams (Egypt!). I also really liked
the rhthymic gymnastics finals. A lot. Unlike the "women" in "artistic" gymnastics, these chicks were pretty hot (except the blonde
Russian chick who looked like she was hit in the face with a frying pan with the word "UGLY" embossed on it -- the gold medal winner OTOH was pretty
damn foxy). My wife did point out that all of them had visible acne for some reason.

I, too, was so happy for Matthew Mitcham and his partner, whose name I will butcher if I try to spell it. He seemed very humble about his win, as well.

Both my boys quit soccer this year. They couldn't juggle the demands of American football, basketball and lacrosse with the two season soccer schedule.
I'm a little sad. It was their first competitive sport and I'll miss watching them play. They were both good. Around here it is still a sport owned
by girls, not boys. But those girl soccer players are considered to be the cool girls. And they are. Most of them are adorable. And fierce. Very fierce.

the game sucks. run, run, run... nobody scores. and in the end (by modern rules) you have a "shootout" to finalize the event. why not just do the shootout from the get-go. it would save so much time and the results would be the same.I totally agree--most of my English language learning students are from countries that love soccer. I'm doing my best to educate them about real American sports like basketball and (NFL) football. It's totally a cultural thing. What you were raised with watching or playing, you stay with during your life. My little soccer lovers, though, cannot accept anyone dissing on the "most wonderful game in the world." They almost get t.ears in their eyes when I say I'd rather pull out my fingernails than watch a soccer match. Sorry! I'm an American sports clod. |
