Random thoughts-
Closing ceremony really stupendous- a little sloppy compared to the opening ceremony? Memory tower full of writhing humans? Seemed a little phallic to me. And those people on wires going up and down looked like human yo-yos.
Jimmie Paige was a disappointment. He had to insulted as well. Why did that thick-thighed singer (Lewis?) have to perform with him? Not on Paige's level at all. She was off-key and off beat and stomped on Jimmie's great guitar work. He should have had a long solo number. And should have been brought back for the finale instead of ....Jackie Chan?!
NBC ignored so many sports- long jump, high jump, judo, modern pentathlon especially. But they almost were forced to because the team USA sports did unexpectedly well- water polo, volleyball. And, of course, they had to show the basketball games. But I sure got sick of volleyball. And water polo.
Boxing was a complete bust with US guys losing out early. The Olympic "pitty-pat" system of scoring really sucks. The should have no helmets and make every bout a pier six slugfest.
Do we need Olympic baseball? Especially if the rpos aren't going to be involved? I don't think so.
I feel sorry for London. Think they'll spend 40 billion on the games? More like 4 billion- tops!! And Phelps had to miss the closing ceremony for that lame London promo?
And do I care what football announcers think about the Olympics and world peace? Big phonies, every damn one.
